Is the 7900xtx overkill for 1440p?

Currently my setup is rtx 3070 paired with Samsung Odyssey G7 27" 1440p@244hz monitor. I'm pondering about upgrading to a bigger monitor, 32" 4k same brand... I guess a gpu upgrade would be required and thinking about either rtx 4080 or rx 7900 xtx (still need to research which is better for gaming).

I wonder though, is going from 2k to 4k as noticeable upgrade as going from 1080 to 2k? Feels kind of wasteful to get rid of my current setup this early in its lifespan (gpu and monitor is only 2 years old)

Have always only admired pc shops from a distance. Trying to build my first pc. I ll keep it short-

  1. Purpose - Gaming at 4K60FPS. I play mostly story based games. Visual quality is important to me.
  2. Divided over motherboard. (a) Asrock b650 pro rs (ATX) or (b) Asrock b650m pro rs (m-ATX). reason - the ATX board has 12+8+1 60A power stages vs 8+2+1 50A power stages on m-ATX board. Also the ATX has beefier heatsinks. Also GPU are extremely overpriced in my place. So might have to go the crossfire way in a few years. For this the ATX has secondary PCIE3x16(x4) at PCIE_3 position on the ATX board while it is at PCIE_2 position on the m-ATX board. The secondary PCIEx16 slot is connected to CPU in both motherboards.

I am open to NVIDIA GPU too. Though I know I won’t be able to combine two of them.

This is the build I have been able to plan so far -

Thank you for patiently reading this far. Thank you for any and all comments/suggestions.

I just bought a gigabyte aorus master 4090 and an MSI a1000g power supply. I've heard a lot about melting connectors with the 4090. How does one avoid these issues? I don't even know the specifics of the problem, just want to know if a solution has been found by the community.

I followed this guide and he just puts the MOBO on the standoffs that come with the case. Which is what I did. And the IO of the MOBO lines up with the case. But the GPU I'm using

  • XFX Speedster SWFT 309 Radeon RX 6700 XT 12 GB Video Card

Doesn't click into the PCI slot, doesn't line up with the case. I'm deeply confused.

So I used my PC with no case, as i moved my motherboard the GPU slipped out of the slot, so the left side of the connector almost completely came out. The image froze, i plugged it back in and there was no display anymore.

The resistors seems fine the pins look okay, the only burnt part I can see is the one I circled

Currently using my x4 slot, and gpu working fine there.

Before anyone screams, I know the rule says single part but I'm technically seeking advice for 2 parts: CPU for tasks/tdp, and memory for stability. The rest of the system is already covered on my end.

Plan:

I want to build a 13700k PC (don't care for 14th gen) and have been looking at several mobos and DDR5 matches and could need some input. My current case is a Lian Li 011D Evo (with the front mesh) so I am limited to 360mm rads. Speaking of, I know it's still taboo but looking forward to stay with an AIO. (eyeing Deepcool LT720)

I've had my eyes on the following two mobos :

Z790 AORUS ELITE AX

ROG STRIX Z790-E GAMING WIFI

(I was initially going to settled for the I was initially going to settled for the MSI MAG Z790 TOMAHAWK WIFI but have read a lot DOA stories)

And memory:

CORSAIR Vengeance RGB 64GB (2 x 32GB) 6600mhz CL32 (CMH64GX5M2B6600C32)

G.SKILL Trident Z5 RGB Series 64GB (2 x 32GB) 6400mhz CL32 (F5-6400J3239G32GX2-TZ5RK)

Use:

Mainly for gaming. For context, I currently own an i7 9800x + 32gb 3600 cl16 + 3080 MSI Seahawk (10gb) (upgraded from a 1080ti). I realize it's PCIe 4 on a PCIe 3 mobo -- haven't really bothered me but I want to fully utilize it's raw power, even knowing there are better cards out there (not really looking to upgrade gpu yet).

I used to render 3D/Music/Video as a hobby during covid lockdown (worked from home so it was great), making use of the quad channel) and extra PCIe lanes, but lately, I find myself using my PC for games or streaming more than anything else with the occasional FLstudio/Adobe premiere. I'm tempted to go with a 13900k and undervolting it a bit for temps (don't really care for max FPS) but 13700k is apparently the sweet spot for gaming while still being able to render. Obviously, not planning on overclocking.

Question:

Would going with 6000mhz CL30 be just as optimal for gaming?

Would having 2 sticks vs 4 really make the system more stable?

Hynix A-Die or M-Die?

Are there usually deals during labor day or should I wait for black Friday?

Merci!

Title says it all, no matter what I did no matter what screwdriver I used I couldn’t get the last 3 screws out and now 2 out of 3 are stripped beyond a screwdriver being able to get them out. I don’t know what to even do anymore I’ve tried the rubber band method and I can’t even undo the aio radiator screws because whatever force put them on there put them on way too tight to the point where I’d need power tools to undo them… idk I’m just so lost :(

1010€ Merc 310 7900xtx 1033€ phantom gaming asrock 7900xtx 1053€ sapphire pulse 7900xtx Cpu is 7800x3d

I cant rly choose, i heard that merc is overall best also for “buck” phantom gaming have insane speed but hotspot issues, and pulse is just allaround good

Hey y’all. I’ve had a prebuilt iBuyPower pc for 2 years and it’s now getting to the point where some of the hardware is gonna need to be upgraded. It runs fine, but the current GPU installed is bare minimum for some newer games at best, more recent releases it’s way below the minimum (Starfield specifically). I have no idea what I should upgrade to to keep it running well for newer releases. CPU seems like it’ll be fine for now, maybe memory will be an issue eventually? Really, I’m mostly looking for advice on what GPU’s I should look into, and what else might need to be upgraded to accommodate a more powerful GPU. I’m also open to suggestions on what other hardware could be upgraded.

Current specs: CPU: Intel Core i7-10700F GPU: AMD Radeon RX 580 Memory: 16GB DDR4 MOBO: ASRock B460M Pro4S/ac (Micro ATX) Storage: 500GB SATA SSD, 1TB 7200RPM HDD PSU: 600 - 650w? Checking that when I get the chance
