Ryzen 7 5800X3D or Ryzen 7 7700X ?

Seems like the first would bottleneck the GPU at 1440p (15%) but would be perfect at 4K.

On the other hand, the second would be fine at 1440p but would not be at 100% at 4K (6% CPU bottleneck).

Checked on pc-builds.com bottleneck calculator.

Advice?

i found out that 16gb isn't enough for me so i will go to 32gb anyways i found the same ram that i use and it's 32gb 3600 CL18 and i found another one with rgb with a little to no difference in price but it's 32gb 3600 C18 now i obviously asked google but didn't find an answer it only told me the difference and the meaning of the number after the c or cl so i came here to ask and find an answer is it ok to move to C18? because i want rgb or stick with the CL18 even tho the rgb in CL18 is more pricey. (sorry English isn't my first language)

The only reason the prices are so high is because there's sufficient demand for GPUs at that price. Simply put, you charge what the market will bear and the market value of GPUs has just skyrocketed. Do none of you guys just have a "Okay, this isn't worth it to me" reflex when looking at 4 digits for a GPU?

Like damn, how consumerist can you get?

Currently building my new PC after 15 years. I really can't decide which mobo should I go for. I'm pulling my hair to choose a B650 Mobo.

These are my top 3 boards as of now:

  1. Asrock B650E PG Riptide Wifi
  2. MSI MAG B650 Tomahawk Wifi
  3. Gigabyte Aorus B650 Elite AX.

MSI is the cheapest among these three with a 15$ difference other two are the same price.

The following are my concerns on each Mobo:

MSI: I've heard that the MSI is having longer boot times with the new Memory Context Restore option some users stated that they are having RAM Stability issues. Also the MSI is a 6 layer PCB so possibility of RAM Overclocking in future is slim to none I suppose. Also doesn't have a heatsink for one of the m.2 but I don't know if it matters.

Asrock: 15$ more than the MSI. Lesser number of ports but have a PCIE 5.0 Gen in x16 and as well as M.2. But I don't know if it is worth it for the 15$ as the Gen 5.0 is not that much of a thing to have now.

Gigabyte: Heard a lot of bad about the coil whine issues that the Elite AX is having. Does have a PCIE 5.0 Gen in SSD and I think it's a good to have. But don't know whether should I do the leap of faith and hope that it doesn't have the annoying coil whine that everyone is saying.

All of the three comes under the same price and features are pretty much the same but not sure which one should I go for. I had the Asrock in mind but lesser number of ports and 15$ more is that worth the price I'm paying for?

Any of the three will work. Help is much appreciated ! Thanks !

Edit: Forgot to mention that the cpu I’m going for is either the 7600x or 7700 whichever will be cheaper during the next sale on Amazon.

Edit2: Also had eyes on the PG Lightning and it is about 60 dollar cheaper than the riptide but doesn’t have a Wifi/bluetooth

Hey all

So I have a large budget to build a great pc. Probably 5k. However I want a silent build. I haven't built a pc for free years and always used the fractal r7 define for my builds. I don't care about lights or RGB at all.

I've always used air coolers. As I'm building a beast of a pc I usually see the 13900k come up but apparently air coolers don't cut it. So.. what CPU would be ideal for air cooling whilst packing a meaty punch?

Is the noctua still the best air cooler on the market ?

Hello there.

I have been planning on getting a new PC, I thought of upgrading my current mid-gaming PC, but since the motherboard is not 4.0 PCI-E, and the PSU is not strong enough for anything bigger.

I thought it would be easier to build a brand new one, and keep this current one as a spare LAN gaming :D

These are the parts I have picked for the new PC, and I would love to hear if I have overlooked anything before I order the parts.

  • Case (already have an old case it can fit in)
  • Motherboard: MSI B550 Gaming Gen 3 - 767 kr. (102,91 €/111,27 US$)
  • CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 - 5600X (cooler incl.)- 1.198 kr. (160,74 €/173,79 US$)
  • GPU: Powercolor Radeon RX 6700 XT Fighter 12 GB - 2.759 kr. ( 370,18 €/400,24 US$)
  • PSU: Corsair RM850X 850W (Gold) - 1.170 kr. (156,98 €/169,73 US$)
  • SSD: Samsung 870 EVO Series MZ-77E2T0B 2TB - 879 kr. (117,94 €/127,51 US$)
  • RAM: G.Skill Ripjaws V Black DDR4 3600Mhz 2x16GB - 479 kr. (64,27 €/69,49 US$)

Total (by 28-08-2023): 7.273 dkr. (975,82 €/ 1.055,08 US$)

All my PC have been Intel and Nvidia, but they are so pricey, like almost double the price.

Should this work?

Disclaimer - not actually building a new PC, looking to upgrade my laptop, but idk where else to ask so

I want to upgrade from my current 256GB SSD to a 1TB SSD, I'm planning to dualboot macOS and Windows (75% of the drive going to macOS, the rest going to Windows). Does anyone know a good cheap 1TB NVMe SSD?

If it's relevant, the laptop is a Lenovo ThinkPad T480s (Intel Core i5-8350u, 16GB DDR4, 256GB Intel 7600p, Intel UHD Graphics 620, macOS 13.5.1 Ventura with the OpenCore 0.9.4 bootloader, Windows 8.1)

If you post a link, please make sure it's for a site that ships to Canada! I live in Canada, not the US.

So I just bought Baldur's Gate 3, and poor old GPU crashed immediately after going through the character creation... So I thought now that I've committed the 60€ for the game, I might as well spend another 1k+ to be actually able to play the game :).

Now I'm not a HC gamer, rarely playing AAA games, and nowadays I often prefer games that I believe to be CPU-heavy (for example Satisfactory, CIV, Cities Skylines), which is why I've tried to invest a bit more in the CPU vs GPU in the build. Monitor is 1440p.

Note that I'm from Finland, so the prices reflect that. Here's what I currently have selected, they are mostly gathered from other posts here, and by whatever had the most reasonable prices at the store that I intend to buy from (). Budget is not necessarily set in stone, but need some good reasoning to increase it..

I was wondering if I should add top exhast fan for this finished build

Case has 1x120mm bottom angled intake fan 2 x 140mm front intake fans 1 x 120mm exhast fan at the back

Does it have too many intake fans? I can still add maximum 2 x 120mm exhaust fans at the top, but because the huge Noctua NH-D15 is taking a lot of space, I don't know if adding more fans at the top would improve the airflow or make it worse. Please Help

Similar to HWU and GN for CPU/GPU or Monitors Unboxed for Monitors, where can somebody find good reviews for gaming keyboards? I am looking for a good budget one.

Someone told me that it's best to get rid of my old ram and replace it with the new upgradeable ram, but why? I have 16gb of ram and I wanted to add extra, I already know which type I need as I checked the motherboard capacity etc... there are 2 extra available slots, so I can't just add on ram to my existing ram?

I have DDR4 Ram CL16 (16GB ram)

If I buy extra ram with C18 would it not work? (from Bestbuy) I don't trust Amazon with Ram, especially Ram that's on sale. I'm sure it's good, I'm just saying I DON'T trust it. Last time I got something "on sale" and it was just poor quality.

Sorry I'm just new to upgrading to a higher performance, I don't want to fry anything and then cry about it after.
