Matthew Mcconaughey and Woody Harrelson were great in it! The last season with Jodie Foster was good too IMO, but the rest was just blah.
I quite enjoyed season 4 of True Detective as well. If you don't compare it to the lightning in a bottle that was Season 1, anyway
damn loved true detective will check out mindhunter, thanks
Mindhunter is the same calibre, sad we didn't get more seasons
IKR?! I read the book some time ago and I was like, man this part here would have made such a great episode.
Mr Robot
Narcos
Dahmer
The Last of US
Chernobyl
Snowfall
Peaky Blinders
Ozark
We just finished Snowfall last night. Awesome ending, very fitting.
yes i don't think i have finished it so I better do that, i guess that means its over to
Yeah I loved the ending. A similar brilliant ending with Mr Robot too.
My time to shine has come!
"The killing" with Joel Kinnaman and Meirelle Enos. Two detectives try to solve a murder case.
"The fall" with Jamie Dornan and Gillian Anderson. A father with a dark and unsettling history.
"Mare of Easttown" with Kate Winslet and Evan Peters. Local detective invetigates a complicated case.
"Inside man" with Stanley Tucci. A detective gets help from an unexpected person.
Sorry for the crappy overviews.
Those are some of my favorites and I have watched them more than once.
you've always shined my friend!
Dude, this looks like exactly what I was looking for as I've never watched any of these and that is rare. Thank you even included a high level plot overview as well, lemmy can't be matched!
You are in for a treat!
I am glad I could share something interesting with you.
βThe killingβ
Consider watching the Danish original instead though :)
Seconded, it's superb.
Oh I will look it up for sure! Thanks for the suggestion.
The Bridge, a scandinavian series
Signal, a korean series
Loved The Bridge π
There is also US version that aired on FX. I havenβt seen the original, but I did enjoy this version.
Will have to checkout the Scandinavian version, thanks for the heads up!
man korean series are crazy i love it. i prefer dubbed tho over subtitles
The first four are remakes, but they're done very well.
Tokyo Vice
Shogun (not exactly a crime thriller but it will suck you in)
Ripley (shot like a black and white film from the 40's, good even if you've seen the Matt Damon movie)
Perry Mason
Yellowjackets
Altered Carbon
Big Little Lies
Nine Perfect Strangers
Dark Winds
If you like crime comedy, try White Lotus, Dead to Me, Search Party, Only Murders in the Building, Flight Attendant, and The Woman in the House Across the Street from the Girl in the Window.
Dark was amazing. True detective s1 o f course.
yes Dark was amazing. I love time travelling shows dark was def the tops of having an realistic edge to it.
Also liked, Dark matter (2024), Travellers, 21 Monkeys are a few travelling series i can recall that are worth a watch
Dark matter looks great - cheers. 12 monkeys I loved, maybe worth a watch again sometime. I've had to resort to comics and books to get my sci fi fix π
- Manhunt: Unabomber + Deadly Games
- The Killing
- Ozark
- Halt and Catch Fire
- Rubicon (unfortunately cancelled after season 1)
- Mindhunter
- Dopesick
- Narcos
- Chernobyl
The Wire, The Sopranos
Sopranos
I kinda liked Your Honor.
I liked it, first season best.
i did too they should make more
The Night Of
Fantastic Limited Series, left me wanting more.
I was pretty happy with the length honestly. In general I think almost all series are too long. A nice ending is an underappreciated thing these days it seems.
"The Americans" β spy drama about Soviet deep undercover spies living in suburban Washington and their FBI neighbour
"Homeland" β CIA accuses a returned prisoner of war to be turned islamic terrorist
"Berlin Station" β CIA station in Berlin faces repeating leaks. First season starts off boring but picks up speed fast
Look for 'The Recruit.' One season only [so far] Young lawyer gets hired by the CIA. Manages to mix office politics with national politics.
How has no one mentioned The Wire. It might be, without exaggerating, the best show ever made, still.
If you're never seen Columbo, you're in for a treat.
Movies based on Stieg Larssons books.
Spot on! Very dark and dramatic, I remember reading the Millenium series when it first came out and then went to the theater to watch The girl with the dragon tattoo, the original european version with Noomi Rapace as Lisbeth Salander. What a great actress!
Better call saul
Andor
Presumed Innocent is finishing out its first season. Really great so far.
I'll add a pretty good classic that I haven't seen mentioned yet: The Mentalist
Excelent performance by Simon Baker, of course, as well as from the supporting cast. First seasons are really good, with some great finales. Quality drops a bit past season 4/5 imo, but it's still enjoyable.
Others have recommended several of my suggestions but here are ones that haven't been mentioned (in order of my own preference):
CRIME:
Bosch
Line of Duty
Bloodline
Longmire
The Killing
DRAMA:
Rectify
For true crime, there's a documentary on Netflix about Robert Durst called Jinxed that is a wild ride. Tldw: multimillionaire who got away with multiple murders, but there's a major twist at the end.
