Very subtle and nuanced difference. They are frequently used interchangeably.

Consciously would suggest awareness of the fault. Knowingly would fit better here because it implies broader understanding of selling faulty chips (eg to hit a target) even though they might cause problem .

I’d say the opposite - what you got at the time was not worth it. The first iPhone didn’t even do email if I remember correctly.
