Currently trying this and it looks good to me. Also has Google Drive and Dropbox sync which is great.

Nice! If only it had a syncing option - only possibility seems to be syncthing.

Hey everybody, I'm looking for the best Android apps using the todo.txt format.

On desktop I like Sleek and I hope to find a fitting app for Android.

(NOT looking for general todo apps but specifically todo.txt apps)

Thanks, will have a look.

I'm already on a hosted Nextcloud but Nextcloud Decks does lack even the most basic features and I'm not looking for file storage here.

I'm interested in recommendations for apps to share ideas, links, screenshots, text,... with my wife.

Use cases: sharing possible vacation spots, things we need to buy for our kid, interesting articles about specific topics, useful links regarding a project we're both working on and so on.

Currently it's all cluttered in text messages.

I've looked into

and a few others but most of these tools are geared towards project management while I'm looking for something more versatile/"creative".

Here is what I need:

  • Android and Windows Client or preferably Webapp
  • Easy sharing from Android and browser
  • Possibility to create different workspaces/topics/channels
  • Decent and simple UI
  • FOSS is a plus
  • Doesn't have to bee free
  • Not selfhosted

Thanks everybody!

Bookmark folders as a built-in solution. The OneTab extension if you'd like a little more advanced features.

There already is pyxll and xlwings which ~~likely~~ maybe does what you're looking for.

I just don't understand why they moved to discord instead of Lemmy. Discord is just a dumb platform for thread based discussions.

I think it can seem rude sometimes to unexpectedly alter the course of a conversation by expecting a tangential conversation.

I hadn't even thought about that, but that might partially explain why I perceive the sentence as rude. From my own conversations, I'm more used to people "working through" the actual topic and possibly asking about the background afterwards.

Might be partly cultural also.

Thanks for your insightful comments everyone, really enjoying the discussion and it's interesting to see how different a 5-word phrase can come across.

As a non-native speaker I encounter this phrase from time to time (in podcasts and such) and I'd like to understand the use (beside the literal meaning which is obvious).

Why would you say that? or sometimes Why do you say that?

To me, that sounds almost rude, like rebuking the questioner. However, the context usually leads me to conclude that this sentence is to be understood neutrally, in the sense of "I am interested in the background of the question".

How should the sentence usually be used? Or does it depend solely on the tone the phrase is used?

If you don't mind buying another tool - there are unscrewing tools, which you apply like a screwdriver and hit it with a hammer. They form a new cross-slot profile in the screw head and at the same time give a rotary impulse to loosen the screw.

Anyone know what they are called?

Edit:

So, honestly not sure if something like this exists.

Going on vacation and looking for an entry-level RPG like game that I can play together with my wife while camping.

It could be pen and paper based or an actual board game. But it needs to be a guided story which requires little preparation. Also open for other suggestions for 2p other than the typical classic/card games.

Thanks everyone!

EDIT: Thanks y'all for your recommendations, I will check everything out! Lot of promising options here!

Do any of you have experienced good products for tinkering together with a 3 year old?

I thought about something like a giant breadboard with simple connectors to switch on a light or play a sound or something.

It doesn't have to be too fancy, just sturdy and safe to play together with an adult.

Thanks!

I avoid Twitter at any cost but sometimes I'd like to read a single tweet or check a certain account. In the past I used fritter on Android or nitter.net in the browser.

Both do not work for me anymore.

Is there a good way to access twitter without - you know - actually using twitter?

Will this undermine most of what makes IAmA special? Probably. But Reddit leadership has all the funds they need to hire people to perform those extra tasks we formerly undertook as volunteer moderators, and we'd be happy to collaborate with them if they choose to do so.

I was using the I don't care about cookies addon but there was talking about the development going in a shady direction so I got rid of it.

Currently I'm using the ublock origin annoyance filters which works only half of the time.

Which filter list would you recommend?

Is there a better way to handle this or is ublock origin still the way to go (for cookies, ad blocking is great).

Just a little PSA: If you have trouble logging into Lemmy, make sure you don't have a space after your username. I accidentally entered it with a space in the password manager and it took me longer than I'd like to admit to figure out why only the donut of horror was spinning but I wasn't logged in.

For Lemmy, "username " is apparently something different than "username".
