Lol, this is especially the case when it's my turn to be the designated driver in the group 🤣

At least I'll stay hydrated! Hydrohomies for life!

Highkey though I kind of don't want to help people leave Twitter to go to Lemmy. While the increase in posts would be great, the kind of toxicity and general culture that follows can most definitely ruin a website.

Depends on where I'm at. In the U.S. (where I'm from), I would personally tip. I also tipped in Mexico when I vacationed there recently. I wouldn't tip in a no-tip/offensive-tip country (e.g. France).

I have a degree in Bioengineering and personally didn't want to go into academia, but would you want to consider that route? There's tons of applications for coding/data viz in research. Otherwise, ArcGIS/GIS jobs may be the way to go if you like that kind of stuff. Especially city/unionized positions, there's less of an emphasis on the consumer, the project, and the labor hours worked; and more about just getting a project or job done.

It's his world, we're just living in it 🤣

Very very very much agreed. The financial constraints caused by the rich force the middle class engineer look the other way and cut corners.

I wouldn't say corrupted, as much as "oh I need this job and I can't give it up". I'm probably not the only engineer in this community who's living paycheck to paycheck. Old parents and a really high mortgage lol.

Hi all! I was wondering if there was anyone who installed Linux Mint on their Non-Retina Intel Silicon Mac (the Mac's up to/around 2012). I have a 2012 15 Inch Macbook Pro with an i7-3615QM. Between possible driver issues, and the fact that it's a Mac with a 3rd Generation CPU, I'm not sure if I can get away with using it or if I should just get some cheap Lenovo Laptop. Just looking for some feedback, thank you in advance!
