One of the "editing" icons under the post/comment window will allow you to upload images directly to Lemmy. I suspect it would accept a GIF, but I haven't tried that. It does not currently support videos directly, but they can be done by linking to another source, as was already said.

Microblogging is like Twitter while Magazines are more like reddit. There is something to be said for supporting both on one platform.

I also found kbin harder to get around at first, but I got used to it before long. It's also pretty new and is evolving quickly. Some of the UI issues look more like the results of an incomplete feature set rather than bad UI design. I suspect it will make more sense as it fills in and matures.

And if you just don't find it comfortable you can always try a Lemmy instance instead. It is further along in its development and has more of a reddit-type UI.

Broader than a brand, but I think it fits here...

Everyone hates banks. Credit Unions are better in every possible way.

I recently switched to Orbi. My house had near dead spots in several places before. The coverage is now very solid.

Taking anthropology courses in college made a significant change to the way I view the world. I don't necessarily know or understand anyone else's way of thinking about things, but I am always aware that alternatives exist. It made me more accepting of differences and more open to new ideas. There are an infinite number of "right ways" to do things. (Although there are still wrong ways too.)

I had been using an account on kbin.social without any problems. Then I changed the email address associated with it to a newly-created alias. I did not realize until too late that the alias was not actually valid yet when I made the change.

kbin logged me out. When I try to login I get the message "Your account is not active." I've tried multiple login and triple-checked the password, but I get the same message every time.

I asked to reset my password. I got the reset email, clicked on the link, changed the password, and it all seemed to work. But I still get the same message when I try to login.

Any suggestions on how to fix this? I don't want to lose the account.

This technology would be incredibly useful, but it is also going to be scary as hell. The distance between "we're beaming all of this energy into an antenna to transfer power" and "we're beaming all of this energy into a building to melt it to slag" is very slight.
