I saw a great post about Shoah-proof to debunk idiot Holocaust deniers, unfortunately it was a Pro-Israel account, but their response was too good for me to not give a like despite their shitty views on modern politics. They debunked the “wooden doors” myth, (yes, certainly some concentration camps had wooden doors in gas chambers, they were still effective enough to be lethal, but Nazis later replaced these with airtight doors.) the chimney with nothing attached to it (this was a recreation, not the actual chimney. The actual chimney was destroyed in parts and hidden to hide Nazi atrocities and it was rebuilt as proof later) and the account even did the thankless work of looking through German documents to disprove false claims of the number of deaths in these camps. I’ll make it clear that what is happening in Palestine is outright Genocide, anyone who denies it is a fucking disgusting snake, but I have a lot of respect and compassion for people who debunk myths about the Shoah. So many innocents were systematically killed, that’s why I respect Norman Finklstein so much, he sees that both genocides are disgusting and awful and calls out both.

Never read Zinn before but I’ve heard nothing but good things, even from SocDem DemocracyNow

All my life, from when I was a little Republican shitstain to now, I always had a soft spot for the Native Americans. No rationale or so-called “nuance” ever made what the settlers did okay. In school we didn’t learn much about the Native Americans. We learned a tiny bit about their infrastructure and where they would typically live, but nothing that humanized them, we didn’t learn about culture or traditions or their own history. We learned that “Colombus sailed the Ocean Blue a long time ago in 1492 and came to America to give new inventions and spread religion to these far-off undiscovered lands”. Then you find out in HS or on your own time that 95% of that sentence is completely false, especially the coming to America part, he never went to any part of the Lower 48. You also learn about the Pilgrims in school. We learned that “some stuffy Christians who were even stuffier than the ones in England came over here to practice their religion in peace. They were a bit in over their heads and needed the Native Americans to help. They thanked each other and ate pumpkin pie with Turkey and stuffing and agreed that they were all friends” and then you learn what actually happens and it’s fucking terrifying. I had a nightmare as a little kid that drunken pilgrims were breaking in and trying to steal my family’s house. it really shook me for like a week or 2. Seeing as how like everything we were taught was utterly bullshit, what else is interesting to learn about the Native Americans? I ask because I found a “fun fact” (not very fun once you realize what the US did to these people) that the area I live in used to have Native Americans living here for 12,000 yrs STRAIGHT! Disgusting to think that that legacy is over because of racism and greed. Any short reads or good videos you would recommend?

Easier said than done, but basically just slowly increase the weight over the course of time. Like one week I’ll do 160, next week I’ll try to do a full set of 165, if I can’t get it, I’ll practice until it moves up a bit. That being said, all of this is much easier with a spotter. But even without a spotter you can still practice the fundamentals through Dumbbell benching (you don’t need a spotter but be careful when bailing on the weights, I’ve seen people nearly injure themselves or others by tossing weights aside when struggling with a dumbbell bench)

I personally love benching, but to each their own, dumbbell lifts are also typically better for range of motion, so I may think about working that into my routine

I couldn’t agree more on the point about lifting for fun, for a few months I struggled with gym motivation and would kinda just not go often enough because I was so caught up in following a regimen to a tee. Once I started exercising for fun primarily, I started going to my gym more often and for longer periods of time

My 8 reps has slowly improved as I changed my diet recently (not especially healthy, I still live in the US and am broke af so healthy food is a treat for me) and I’m up to 185 lbs (bar+ Plate and 25 each side), I very rarely do 1 Rep Max because it gets me exhausted for the rest of my exercise unless I drink a shitload of water. Last I checked I’m at 205 (bar+ Plate and 35 each side). Sorry if this is confusing to anyone because of the Lbs to Kilos dilemma. Around 84 kilos for 8 Reps, around 93 kilos for 1RM, what are yall at?

Listen to this song at 1.25x speed and try shadow boxing in rhythm to the beat. You’ll be feeling like Muhammad Ali halfway through the song

“After a Jewish shopkeeper had committed suicide together with his family in Vienna, storm troopers plastered his shop windows with placards saying ‘Please imitate’.²³” this part was so disgustingly inhumane that I couldn’t really bare to read the rest. My Faith in humanity really slips sometimes, good to know that plenty of their leaders and Generals chose to commit suicide. A tiny fraction of Poetic Justice there, but still just leaves you feeling like shit when you think about how long they went without facing their consequences

I couldn’t agree more, I’m not a fan of lifetime leaders or nepotism, but their contributions to a better Korea are admirable and inspiring

I had to star this comment lmao

A should ALWAYS be the button on the bottom. X should be on one of the sides, because it’s like an X axis, then make Y the top one because it’s the Y axis, the taller one. B can go wherever idc. I’m sorta just making this up as I go, but that’s my 2 cents

I always thought the movie was controversial because it was about JFK getting killed and the story of who was involved, I was waaaay off the mark. This movie sounds awesome, lemme get my soda, popcorn and 3-D glasses!

I was listening to an ep of the Deprogram where they talk about how in China, many people have translated Hakim and Yugopnik’s videos into Chinese to understand Marxist discourse from around the world. I’m a lil jealous because they said it doesn’t happen much the other way around, most Chinese resources are not translated into English. I would like to learn more about Chinese resources on Marxism and modern Chinese takes on anti-Imperialism, I tried looking up Chinese sources and surprise surprise, it’s in Chinese and is not really translated well, barely intelligible in the translation I found. I’ll find the link if I still can. TL;DR Where to find good translations of Chinese resources on Marxism?

To clarify, if you can bench your bodyweight, squat 1.5x your bodyweight, and 2x your deadlift, you are in the top 5% of strongest humans.

I considered posting this to Tankie Tunes but realized that not everyone that listens to music also lifts, but everyone who lifts definitely listens to music…so with that said, what is your favorite song/most “powerful” song that you exercise to? Obv it doesn’t have to be ML music but most of my songs that get me super pumped are political songs. For me it’s Chollima on The Wing, a super powerful sounding DPRK track that seems to make me able to lift 50 lbs more lol. I like this song when I need to do a solid 1 minute exercise of heavy weight with many reps. It has a good rhythm to it for keeping your reps in time. Besides those main ones, I also love this Maoist song mainly just bc it’s high-energy and cheery, good for doing cardio or a longer exercise to. Lastly I love listening to Motorhead and Van Halen. They don’t match the other songs but what can I say, Ace of Spades fuckin kicks ass

I only know about Hoxha bc like a year ago I was reading Espresso Stalinist and they mentioned Hoxha. I don’t know much about him besides that he made bunkers, liked Stalin a lot and he called people Revisionist. This gives me no actual insight into whether he had good ideas or not. I know for a fucking fact that looking him up on YT will mislead me and I’ll be left more confused than I started. What is Hoxhaism and how does it differentiate from Marxism-Leninism generally? Is it an offshoot, what are your general opinions on Hoxha and the modern Hoxha community(if there even exist more than 200 of them worldwide)

I have the Marx-Engels reader which has a LOT of Marx and plenty of Engel’s essential texts. I also have the Essential works of Lenin and a few others by him, I have 3 Stalin books(Anarch or Soc, Marxism & Natl. Question, Foundations of Leninism). I’m wondering who is another important Marxist to collect works of? My main thought is probably Rosa Luxembourg but I don’t know which collection to get. Any other good collections of works would be appreciated

For context, I am roughly 5’10” and 150 lbs. I work outside and generally on an 8 hour day which is my norm, I’ll walk at LEAST 4 miles. I realized recently that’s probably the main reason I don’t gain weight, I walk all my fat off. I obviously have no problem with people that are overweight or people that don’t look like vogue models, that’s an unrealistic standard to be set(and feeds into consumerism but that’s a whole nother convo) but I would like to gain weight without being overweight. I am not skinny, I’m decently muscular not to pat myself too hard but I would like to get bigger. I know muscle weighs more than fat but I know I also need body fat. I eat lots of chicken and meat. I really kinda eat unhealthy and have lots of typical American comfort foods but I don’t go hard on dessert really. I do like fruit and yogurt too. What should I do to gain weight without eating unhealthy foods? Will exercise make me gain weight eventually or would it take a crazy long time?

I personally enjoy doing a set of 8. When I say I reach a new PR(bench or squat or DL) I usually just mean that I can finally do 8 reps of it. I could probably do pretty damn heavy weights if I did 1 rep max but I wonder: is it just a vanity thing like “look how much I can lift for 1 single rep” or is it actually something to help me increase my mass? Or would a 5 rep increase mass more?

From what I gather, Dialectical analysis is the opposite of metaphysical analysis. I also know Idealism is the other side of materialism. So I feel like Idealism and Metaphysics go hand in hand. They are ways of thinking that fundamentally go against the way the world works in a DialMat perspective. I’m mainly confused because I basically see DialMat as one in the same when I know they aren’t. Can you give me an example of what a Metaphysical Materialist would look like? Or what a Dialectical understanding Idealist would look like as opposed to the former? I should probably brush up on Anarchism or Socialism by Stalin just to make sure but any input is appreciated comrades.

In your opinion, does this article give a decent definition or Imperialism?; because I actually don’t have as good of an understanding of Imperialism as others, I will fully admit.
