Was probably not aware of it b

Though, as a non-native speaker of English I was first introduced to the word through Edubuntu.
So, GIMP = GNU Image Manipulation Program for me before I learnt any other meaning

They did a stupid ass job them

They probably didn't expect their president to be idiotic enough to be against vaccines and recommend stuff like bleach.

They're a developed nation and could've had better control.
They were able to hinder Chinese trade a bit.

And didn't they try and fail to kill Castro in many stupid ass ways?

I think them doing it is more likely than China doing it to their own, considering the trade issues that the virus caused for China at the time.

And again, they were the first to use nuclear weapons on civillians. Did it twice even.
I don't think they'd have an qualms about using biological weapons, if they thought that it'd give them an edge.

They also can float the 'China virus' conspiracy to confuse the public and make them anti-China too.

My personal conspiracy theory is that the Chinese government did engineer (or at least selectively cultivate) COVID

The theory I'd believe more is that the U S of A govt or one of its agencies engineered and released it in China.

China and India are growing economies, with decent populations and a pandemic would seriously delay their growth and help the U S of A keep it's top place for a bit longer or destroy its competitors.

I've heard the theory being given decent thought by non-western people. And it's equally, if not, more believable than the other one.

The US is the only country that has ever used nuclear weapons on civillians, so them using biological weapons on civillians would not be a big moral barrier for them or a big stretch to think about.

They probably didn't think it'd spread this much and their own citizens n even president would be idiotic enough to be against vaccines and masks, when people were dying.

Are there any modern books which talk about the same/similar contents which are easier/smaller for a beginner to start?

They said that they don't care about the opinions.
They may care and see those people as a bother/problem.

He paid his workers well enough that a majority of them could buy his cars?

Productivity reduction(or more likely accidents due to tired workers) might be relevant.

Not mentioning Mussolini, Unit 731, Churchill alogn with Hitler? Kind of disturbing tbh.

I've recently read about it, and it seems straight forward.
Materialism makes sense and things getting resolved through the resolution/interaction of contradiction/opposing forces too.

Though curious on how it is used as a tool to analyse and resolve problems.
Especially in the lives/localities of those who study/use it.

I don't much about philosophy, so forgive if I made any wrong assumptions or if this question is weird.
Please do recommend any online sources that may help me there, in that case.

Also, would it be better to ask this in another sub, as this question maybe political?

If not favorite, ones that touched you in some way.

I'll start by mentioning some movies from my mother tongue(Malayalam of Kerala, India):

  • Mumbai Police
A crime thriller (Came out almost 2 decades ago n was very striking for the time)
  • KammaraSambhavam
Political/Historic satire/drama (The main actor has some cases on him, but the movie is quite good)
  • Kathavasheshan
  • Devasuram
Conservative sigma male upper class Kerala dude getting character development. I really liked how the transformation happened in it
  • Maheshinte Parthikaaram (Mahesh's Revenge)
    Not an action movie.

From my country, but not in my mother tongue:

  • Super Deluxe - A Tamil movie that I recently watched, quite unique
  • Enthiran (Robot), a Tamil movie
Has over the top stuff, but is fun to watch
  • Viduthalai(Liberation), another Tamil movie
  • Agent Vinod - A Hindi spy-comedy movie

The anime that I like are Hunter x Hunter, Parasyte, Samurai Flamenco, Gintama.

Especially ones that you find useful on android Firefox, as they seem to be less popular?

Recently got to know about bookmarklets due to a thread here in this community itself:

^An unrelated question: Is there some way to link comments so that they are automatically opened in home instances for eveyone, like how we can link communities and usernames currently?^

Some interesting/useful bookmarklets that I know of:

  1. Bullshit.js as mentioned in that link
  2. dotepub. It does say that data is sent to their server.
For some sites it's better than the inbuilt save as pdf option.
  3. A bookmarklet that opens the current site in G-translate
  4. Saw a bookmarklet which works like reader mode.

The freecodecamp article on bookmarklets maybe useful for those new to it(It helped me). It seems cool.
https://wiki.greasespot.net/User_Script_Hosting links to sources for userscripts. Most of them seem to be desktop-centric.

Which are your favorites? Any cool ones that you have made on your own?

  • I have recently started using RSS feeds to get news and other information. It is quite time-saving.
  • Recently found out that word could open pdfs for edits. Used to upload pdfs to websites to get it converted into some editable format. I think Libreoffice can do the same.
  • Got that spinning type of mop and mopping has become a bit easier.

The R site has such a feature, which can allow one to group posts from many communities into one feed.
With many communities on different instances with similar topics, it'd be useful to group them to avoid separate visits to each community.

Does lemmy have such an option?
If not, are there any lemmy clients that can provides a similar option?
Or are there known workarounds, maybe with the rss feeds or so?

I had tried to learn some languages using online resources on the net(freely accessible ones tho). Didn't actually commit to it with a plan.
Curious on how others went about it.

Do mention the resources that you liked/found useful.

The system launcher on my phone has a data usage that is non-zero. I've already disabled background data for it.

I use Lawnchair2, but haven't tried to disable/uninstall the system launcher because I've read somewhere that it affects gesture navigation(Is it actually so?)

I know that apps like Netguard can help, but is there a more direct solution, other than rooting?

Are there any other adb commands that are useful, hopefully that are not too dangerous?

I've recently found
adb shell pm trim-caches 99999M
Clears all/most app cache, without having to install some cache clear or use Gfiles. I don't really use it often.

Along with this, does anyone know way to troubleshoot gmail not being able to download attachments on mobile data? I've not disabled background data for that.
Or should I make a separate post on it. Or would it be too tech-supporty?

I find it useful when I have to ask for files from another person without having to ask them to install the app.

Trebleshot has this option(screenshot attached) and I'm currently using it. But it's source seems to archived, so looking for an alternative if it exists.

Is android nearby share enough for this? Generally, I think that foss apps give me faster transfer speeds overy nearby share. Or is it just placebo?

.7z seems to be good and I do recommend it to people, saying that it's better than regular zip. Have recently started using opus n webm files more.

I've also heard about jxl recently. Would be very nice to see it become popular, as it could reduce the size of my memes n screenshots folders. Faster webpage loading too.

Are there any other file formats that'll be useful to people, but isn't getting enough attention?

In the case of apps, Trebleshot seems to be good for android file sharing. I like it's web sharing option having an upload form. Helps me where I don't have to ask others to install an app to send me a file locally. Not sure about its encryption n security aspects, but I only have used it for local file sharing.

And what about other stuff similar to that, other than file formats or apps?

Recently have started exercising my neck. Not neck bridges and loaded things tho. Only safe n simple movements. Seems to be good, especially after using a monitor for some time. I think it's not much talked about, maybe because of the fear that people will overdo it?
