Welcome to !reddit. This is a community for all news and discussions about Reddit.

The rules for posting and commenting, besides the rules defined here for lemmy.world, are as follows:

Rules

Rule 1- No brigading.

**You may not encourage brigading any communities or subreddits in any way. **

YSKs are about self-improvement on how to do things.

Rule 2- No illegal or NSFW or gore content.

**No illegal or NSFW or gore content. **

Rule 3- Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here.

Do not seek mental, medical and professional help here. Breaking this rule will not get you or your post removed, but it will put you at risk, and possibly in danger.

Rule 4- No self promotion or upvote-farming of any kind.

That's it.

Rule 5- No baiting or sealioning or promoting an agenda.

Posts and comments which, instead of being of an innocuous nature, are specifically intended (based on reports and in the opinion of our crack moderation team) to bait users into ideological wars on charged political topics will be removed and the authors warned - or banned - depending on severity.

Rule 6- Regarding META posts.

Provided it is about the community itself, you may post non-Reddit posts using the [META] tag on your post title.

Rule 7- You can't harass or disturb other members.

If you vocally harass or discriminate against any individual member, you will be removed.

Likewise, if you are a member, sympathiser or a resemblant of a movement that is known to largely hate, mock, discriminate against, and/or want to take lives of a group of people, and you were provably vocal about your hate, then you will be banned on sight.

Rule 8- All comments should try to stay relevant to their parent content.

Rule 9- Reposts from other platforms are not allowed.

Let everyone have their own content.

Rule 10- Majority of bots aren't allowed to participate here. This includes using AI responses and summaries.

First time I’ve used Reddit in ages and I said to someone, “collect resources and die like the rest of us.”

Very clearly not a threat, just stating a fact. Apparently pointing out the fact that we all die is violence.

Oh my God, I hate the Internet. I remember when I loved it.

you hate corporate internet. Lemmy is like the internet you knew.

[–] Matt3999@lemmy.world 2 points 2 hours ago

I got banned for suggesting that neo-nazis emulate their hero Hitler by copying his final cowardly act. I'm done with their shit.

[–] Gandhi70@lemmy.world 11 points 5 hours ago (2 children)

Be happy, I was out of the blue permanently banned yesterday for "rule violation". And I honestly have non idea, which rule I violated.

[–] brax@sh.itjust.works 6 points 4 hours ago* (last edited 4 hours ago)

You got banned because I hey caught on that you weren't a bot.

[–] theangryseal@lemmy.world 8 points 5 hours ago (3 children)

Welcome to the fediverse. Screw corporate social media.

[–] Treczoks@lemmy.world 2 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

In some corners, the fediverse is not better. Overreaching mods are wherever they can feel their power.

[–] db0@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 3 hours ago

This has never changed since the early bbforums. If you one those, they have no reason to dislike lemmy any more.

[–] Gandhi70@lemmy.world 1 points 5 hours ago

I just wish activity in the fediverse would be a bit higher.

[–] ryannathans@aussie.zone 1 points 5 hours ago

Same thing happens here lol just at a lower rate for now

[–] umbraroze@slrpnk.net 2 points 4 hours ago

In the days of yore, Roman generals, upon conquering new lands for the Empire and receiving highest cheer and adulation from the crowds in Triump, would specifically assign a slave to whisper to their ear, at the height of the ceremony, "remember that you're but a mortal."

Spez is like "fuck that nonsense. If I keep kissing enough asses at bigger tech companies, maybe I'll get a blood donor virgin dude of my own. And then I'll live forever!"

[–] besselj@lemmy.ca 37 points 9 hours ago (3 children)

Its why the younger generation uses words like "Unalive". They're growing up on puritanical platforms that use automation to censor sensitive topics and they have to find creative ways to express themselves to get around the censorship.

[–] db0@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 3 hours ago

Because corporate media will ban or hide you from saying "suicide".

[–] theangryseal@lemmy.world 17 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

That’s fucking sad. That alone should be enough to push people toward the Fediverse. Man, how lucky was I to grow up on a truly free internet?

[–] foggy@lemmy.world 17 points 8 hours ago (1 children)

When I saw my first beheading, I was but a boy.

[–] NOT_RICK@lemmy.world 6 points 8 hours ago (3 children)

I was on rotten way earlier in life than I should have been. Shit, when our elementary school got internet we had no web filters whatsoever. They really didn’t know what they were handing us back in the 90’s

[–] A_norny_mousse@feddit.org 2 points 3 hours ago

when our elementary school got internet we had no web filters whatsoever. They really didn’t know what they were handing us back in the 90’s

This is still a huge issue, and not only in schools

[–] foggy@lemmy.world 6 points 8 hours ago (1 children)

Hey kids! Want life long trauma? Check the way back machine for rotten.com, ogrish.com back in 2001 - 2004.

Warning: ...don't.

[–] theangryseal@lemmy.world 2 points 6 hours ago

I’m 40, I was there for the fake Kurt Cobain in an ambulance.

[–] njordomir@lemmy.world 3 points 7 hours ago

In high school I used to tape the addresses for proxy servers to the bottom of the keyboards for my comrades. I was on a mailing list and when the new addresses got posted they always worked for a few days before they updated the filters. Even though they could have checked the keyboards, the librarians looked the other way because they were pro free inquiry and pro free speech.

"Inhume": Opposite of exhume.

Used in a sentence: Nikita Kruschev - "We will inhume you!"

[–] FistingEnthusiast@lemmynsfw.com 7 points 7 hours ago (2 children)

I got banned across my accounts for saying "bad bot" to a nazi apologist, because apparently those two words are violent

[–] TheBat@lemmy.world 2 points 1 hour ago* (last edited 1 hour ago)

for saying "bad bot" to a nazi apologist

Lmao

Back when I was active on reddit, we used to counter-troll a self-proclaimed libertarian (CritFin) with 'bad bot' comments.

He got pretty high on the rankings.

https://botrank.pastimes.eu/?sort=bad-votes

Edit: that deadsix guy isn't me btw. I just randomly googled CritFin's name along with bad bot and got this page.

[–] njordomir@lemmy.world 3 points 7 hours ago

The audacity. How violent!

Sometime in the late 90s or early 2000s I got banned from the PETA forums for posting pictures of steak. :)

[–] Pyr0@lemm.ee 3 points 6 hours ago* (last edited 6 hours ago) (1 children)

I got a permanent ban 4 times. I should have just used a vpn. Oh well. Fuck Reddit. I asked a question that they didn’t like:

What is a domestic enemy?

Also I unintentionally did a “ban evasion” hopefully we can get Lemme full of content and make it a rich free speech platform like Reddit used to be.

[–] db0@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 3 hours ago

Nowaways they block VPNs though

[–] themeatbridge@lemmy.world 5 points 8 hours ago (1 children)

I just realized I was banned from a federated instance I had never heard of, so it's not just reddit.

[–] toy_boat_toy_boat@lemmy.world 4 points 8 hours ago* (last edited 8 hours ago)

i was on reddit since 2008. after my second mysterious permanent ban for saying nothing that contravenes the rules, i started to realize just how much they curate their content. There's no reason that a news aggregator needs 2,013 employees.

edit -- and don't hate the internet, it's just like and indie band you found and now they're top of the charts.
