Ask Lemmy
A Fediverse community for open-ended, thought provoking questions
Rules: (interactive)
1) Be nice and; have fun
Doxxing, trolling, sealioning, racism, and toxicity are not welcomed in AskLemmy. Remember what your mother said: if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all. In addition, the site-wide Lemmy.world terms of service also apply here. Please familiarize yourself with them
2) All posts must end with a '?'
This is sort of like Jeopardy. Please phrase all post titles in the form of a proper question ending with ?
3) No spam
Please do not flood the community with nonsense. Actual suspected spammers will be banned on site. No astroturfing.
4) NSFW is okay, within reason
Just remember to tag posts with either a content warning or a [NSFW] tag. Overtly sexual posts are not allowed, please direct them to either !asklemmyafterdark@lemmy.world or !asklemmynsfw@lemmynsfw.com.
NSFW comments should be restricted to posts tagged [NSFW].
5) This is not a support community.
It is not a place for 'how do I?', type questions.
If you have any questions regarding the site itself or would like to report a community, please direct them to Lemmy.world Support or email info@lemmy.world. For other questions check our partnered communities list, or use the search function.
6) No US Politics.
Please don't post about current US Politics. If you need to do this, try !politicaldiscussion@lemmy.world or !askusa@discuss.online
Reminder: The terms of service apply here too.

Option 2
Not that I dislike 1, but between me being on the spectrum and having experience living alone in a foreign country w/o family for close to 10 years (and literally could only talk with family using video chats), I think I would be much more competent than the average person on living in the latter... Which also helps free out more space for ppl in option 1
I'd have to go with shared earth, as tempting as it sounds to have anything I want. Relationships over material possession, always.
The last sentence changes this, you can video chat with people on earth and then invite them to your continent as equals. Could just get your friends and family on with you. Could even find new people online and invite them once you know them.
Earth baybe, I love a whole lot of people.
Continent, finally doing what I want without other people
So if I get this right: live with others with society moral constraints, or live by (mostly) by yourself and do the fuck you want?
2 is tempting but I know after a while it's going to be a problem (I like being by myself but it's not healthy).
So I'd take 1 with holidays on 2. Unless I can also decide population on 2. I don't need "loved ones", I'd like someone to have a drink and do stuff IRL with sometimes.
Option 1: communist utopia Option 2: DnD in Reality, war war war war war war
Someone's been reading Asimov.
I have read Asimov, but I didn't think it was what inspired the question. If it had to be any SciFi novel, it's more likely to be Singularity Sky
Custom. I'd be fine with shared, but I'm an introvert at heart. And, since the 7 other people are humans, odds are good there'd be fairly regular contact, because introverts or not, apes are social creatures.
Custom continent.
