Another odd list, I wonder if the quality of the journalism is correlated with how soulless their end of list looks like.

Eurogamer as a website is just stuck in a tailspin now. I used to really like the site but now it's in resale hell - thrown like a rugby ball to conglomerate after conglomerate where the only noticeable difference is more adverts on screen, and more pieces based on Twitter posts masquerading as journalism.

Thankfully, spinoffs like as Digital Foundry are still doing very very well and largely immune to whatever the fuck is going on at EG.

I don't even know where to look for decent gaming news now if I'm honest.

What's odd about it?

Well, one thing is that it is a ranking of 50 games without a word of explanation how this ranking was created. Who says #37 is better than #38 is better than #39 is better than #40? And then also, if this is a ranking, why make it that big in the first place? Different people have different tastes, but a ranking says #1 is the best game, #2 the second-best, #3 the third-best - who should care for the 50th-best one if there were 49 better games this year alone?

EDIT: This was meant to be a reply to the "What's odd about this list?" comment.

Because they ranked Dragon Age Veilguard at number 6. Compared to the other games they have on the list (and some that are missing), that ranking is just objectively not true.

Veilguard only had one good writer, for a single character, and she quit recently.

Nothing about this list is objective.

Fuck off with this industry bullshit. Eurogamer. Veilguard is shit, Indiana can be in the lower half of the 50 and Nine Sols, which is a better game than 75% of those is absent.

They put Dragon Age Veilguard above Metaphor ReFantazio, Warhammer 40K Space Marine 2, STALKER 2, Caves of Qud, Stellar Blade, Crow Country, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, Mouthwashing, and Zelda Echoes of Wisdom. Not to mention some very massive, high profile games, with literal millions of players more than Dragon Age Veilguard are completely missing.

They put Dragon Age Veilguard at number six.

The person that made this list is either a paid shill, or a stupid shill. Or both.
