Day XXX of conservatives making liberals look cool by accident.

[–] PochoHipster@lemmy.ml 47 points 1 year ago (1 children)

No accident. We always have been the cooler ones.

Right wing rage bait drives engagement which in turn drives up the cost of advertising and gives them more revenue. This is really why everyone needs to abandon corporate social media in droves.

[–] Morhamms357@lemmy.world 59 points 1 year ago (3 children)

Did...did they censor trash?

Oh, god, that just makes everything worse!

It's "Trish". That's the 2nd girl's name. They didn't want to be banned for doxxing.

[–] TimeNaan@lemmy.world 9 points 1 year ago

Took me so long to figure out that this wasn't some obscure swearword.

[–] galaxies_collide@lemmy.world 54 points 1 year ago

That’s what you get for using Facebook. Just delete your account already.

[–] FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world 46 points 1 year ago (13 children)

Deactivated FB six weeks ago.

I'm not saying you should do the same, but I'm not not saying it.

[–] normalmighty@lemmy.world 31 points 1 year ago (2 children)

6 weeks? I thought everyone left that dumpster fire 8 years ago

[–] FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world 8 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Nope.

It's a shame they didn't.

Stop clicking on right wing rage bait and it won't be recommended to you lol

[–] crab@lemm.ee 24 points 1 year ago (2 children)

You don't even need to click for them to recommend it. If you look at it longer than another thing, or take a screenshot when it's on the screen, it's a signal that you might spend more time on the app if they show those kind of things. And the chance of you spending more time on the app means more money for them through ads.

I've never once had FB suggest things like this to me..

Probably because I've never made an account!

[–] Lenins2ndCat@lemmy.world 10 points 1 year ago (1 children)

This is not true. Anyone that clicks anything remotely socialist immediately gets fed with the completely opposite, gommunism no food and 100gorillionbillion deaths propaganda. It immediately tries to lead people to the opposite.

Why you still on Facebook?

[–] ZombieZookeeper@lemmy.world 10 points 1 year ago (3 children)

Because we left Reddit but there still not enough Lemmy content for while we're sitting on the porcelain throne.

[–] hamid@lemmy.world 22 points 1 year ago

You need fiber not facebook

[–] normalmighty@lemmy.world 21 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Imo continuing to use reddit is a lot better than using Facebook. As many issues as you may have with Reddit as a company, Meta is far worse.

Got to change your sort and subscribe to more communities. There is more than enough stuff here to make my legs go numb on the can.

and god forbid you tell conservatives that all of those options can exist in this world, and that people have different opinions. (and that's okay)

Who gives a fuck? The car isn't decorated for you it's decorated for its owner. Same goes with how a person chooses to dress or decorate their body.

Ultimately just another form of "your body exists for my enjoyment".

[–] toiletobserver@lemmy.world 28 points 1 year ago (2 children)

I have no idea what they are advertising

Women as property

[–] CADmonkey@lemmy.world 24 points 1 year ago

Looks at weird paint job on my project car Yeah who... who would paint a car like that?

I don't get it really. She can get tattoos if she wants, it's not like she's making me get them.

[–] Veedem@lemmy.world 23 points 1 year ago

Algorithm free is the way to be.

[–] ChickenButt@lemmy.world 20 points 1 year ago

The content algorithms are terrible. I've been trolling some local news pages that have been posting about Jason Aldean, and it never fails that the most relevant comments are all showing support even though each comment only has a few likes, but when "all comments" is chosen, there are massive amounts of opposing comments that have an enormous amount of likes.

It's like the purest form of manufacturing consent.

[–] rustyfish@lemmy.world 18 points 1 year ago (2 children)

This kind of shit is usually made by incels. So no worry. They already live in their own hell.

[–] GONADS125@lemmy.world 18 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Plenty of reason to worry about desperate incels, seeing how many mass killers have come from that group...

This is rage bait? For all i know the lady above is the one below on a work day & vise-versa on vacation.

Like do these people want stock photos for a lover? That's on them, but i'm confident who they chose in the end to love was NOT the top image lol

[–] thisbenzingring@lemmy.sdf.org 9 points 1 year ago

A girl I dated sold a set of modeling photos to one of the clip art sites in the early 2000s. She was in a movie too, but all of that right after we broke up.

The photos of her from the photoshoot would show up in weird ways. She was all over the internet! She was an advertisement on the front page of msnbc for a while. But the real kicker was seeing her photo on the wall of a futon store. Like frickin huge. The store was on a corner of a busy intersection. I could see the picture on the wall as I turned the corner. WTF One time I had to stop and go inside just to check if I was making it up. My wife agreed it was her!

And for like 10 years I would see it used in random places.

She was and probably is super cute so not surprised she had some luck selling her appearance but JFC I'm pretty sure some dudes fell in love with her. I did to but at least she was interested in me too

When you grab images of two different people to try to prove you're right.

[–] odium@programming.dev 21 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (2 children)

And they fail because the bottom one looks hotter to me (person, not car. I concede that the top car looks better.)

[–] Fylkir@lemmy.sdf.org 7 points 1 year ago

I'd say neither car looks good.

And conservatives are suing Facebook because they feel censored.

ROFL!

[–] HardlightCereal@lemmy.world 12 points 1 year ago

All cars look bad because pollution is ugly

[–] some_guy@lemmy.sdf.org 11 points 1 year ago

Personally, I quite like tastefully tatted ladies, but that just me.

[–] Tigbitties@kbin.social 10 points 1 year ago

Algorithms are crap. I love archeology and space docs so, of course, my YouTube feed is 100% ancient aliens bullshit. I've even tried blocking channels but they keep coming back. I despise seeing Joe Rogan's face. I just ignore it and wait for a word of mouth suggestion. I refuse to be force fed shit.

[–] lvxferre@lemmy.ml 9 points 1 year ago

Another mildly infuriating thing about Faecesbook, highlighted by this pic:

Regardless of the bullshit that it claims to the users, its moderation system is fully algorithmic and automatic. However since algorithms don't understand discourse, it's damn easy [when you're human] to say the shit that you want, in a way that they don't understand - but that other humans do. For example you can get away calling people "trash", even if this should be against Faecesbook's code of conduct; and nobody will be able to take your post down because no actual human being with power to take it down will actually review it.
