You might be being a bit too harsh on Voyager. They aren't as good as The Visitor, but Living Witness and Blink of an Eye are both really great and have always stuck with me.

They’re good but not on the same level as some of DS9’s episodes and Voyager is my favourite series.
A lot of people (myself included) would argue this is the best DS9 episode.
I think the Sisko/Jake father-son relationship is a key part of what makes DS9 different to other Trek - DS9 was about putting down roots in a place with everything that entails, in contrast to TOS and TNG being about a ship going from place-to-place each week, and multiple senior crew members having their families prominent in the show was a part of how they emphasised that theme. The Visitor is the key episode of the Sisko/Jake relationship and hence a key episode in what makes DS9 different.
Completely agree. Just rewatched this one recently and somehow it seems to hit harder every time. I'm not a parent, and have no real relationship with mine, but the story and acting are so superb they briefly make me realise what that might be like.
Easily DS9's best episode, and it has little to do with the Dominion or Section 31 or even the Prophets/Pah-Wraiths. Runner up to my favorite Trek episode ever, the other one being The Offspring from TNG.
I still put Far Beyond the Stars in the top spot.
The Offspring is a powerful episode but I think The Inner Light is TNG at it’s very best.
The Inner Light is good, but I respectfully disagree with the consensus that it's TNG's best.
It’s a close call between The Inner Light and Measure of a Man with The Offspring in 3rd and Family a very close 4th.
I agree. Such an emotional episode and Sisko’s heartbreak in that last scene. Man, I tear up just thinking of it. Such magnificent acting too. The love on Sisko’s face gets me every time.
It’s a massive credit to Avery Brooks that the best Star Trek episodes of all time are all Sisko episodes. The others obviously being In The Pale Moonlight and Far Beyond the Stars.
I agree. Avery Brooks is stellar in the series and one of my favourites of all trek. I really hate that there never was a movie showing if Sisko ever got back from the prophets and what happened to Jake and Cassidy and their unborn child.
It was told beautifully in the season 8 books, but I would have loved to have seen it!
As for episodes Avery is stellar in, I would count Past Tense as well. It’s such an underrated duology and Avery is truly magnificent in it.
Dang, I’m getting an error trying to follow the link. Anyone have a mirror/alternate link?
Ah, Visitor posting. Now it feels like the old subreddit.
