Oh, poor them. I feel so sorry for them, I'm sure they don't know that there are better platform out there like Lemmy that aren't centrally controlled and haven't expressed transphobic policies.

For a message like this you want it to reach as many people as possible. Lemmy is absolutely not that platform. Tiktok and Instagram, for all their misgivings, have a much wider reach. I don't think people who are fearing for their life particularly care about the morals of using certain platforms

Any port in a storm, indeed.

Indeed, better there than nowhere, it's just a shame most people in general still use such problematic platforms, particularly for trans people.

I'm not really sure what talking down to people that clearly aren't part of this platform accomplishes. Even if they were here this kind of comment might make them less likely to post something.

That wasn't my intention, to talk down to them, but I see how it could be interpreted that way. I was simply expressing that it's a shame that most people aren't aware of the better platforms.

Ah, got ya. In my experience "Oh poor them" is most often used sarcastically

The vast, vast majority of people don't even know these platforms exist

[–] JackGreenEarth@lemm.ee 1 points 3 weeks ago

I know, I said it's a shame they don't know that they exist.
