That's because the nazi's co-opted the symbol which was a symbol of peace

I first learned this when exploring a particular Zelda dungeon.

It's a bit more problematic in Zelda as Zelda games had a tendency so far to have come out after WW2

Wasn't the one in Zelda oriented differently to resemble the manji instead of the Nazi swastika?
