I have the Miyoo Mini+. I originally used MinUI and it saved games like a normal GBA and loaded the game to the menu everytime I started it, again like a standard GBA worked. I switched to OnionOS to have a nicer interface with boxart and now it only uses save states and auto starts from said state when opening a game. Not an authentic experience.

I have learned there's a difference between game saves and save states but don't know how to switch my handheld to use only game saves. Is it based on the core used maybe? Can anyone help me out?

Mega Man World 4 DX: A Colourful Revamp

This fan-made project, Mega Man World 4 DX, offers a full-colour enhancement of the original Game Boy classic, Mega Man IV. The team led by Marc Robledo and Kensu William has successfully modernized the visuals with vibrant colour palettes, while also optimizing performance and adding gameplay tweaks.

  • Full-Colour Graphics: The retro game gets a fresh look that enhances its appeal without altering its original aesthetic.
  • Performance Enhancements: The game now runs smoothly thanks to enhancements in engine optimization and the use of double-speed mode.
  • Gameplay Tweaks: Modernized weapon demo screens, improved HUD readability, and an NES-style pause menu with weapon icons enhance the overall experience while maintaining the essence of the original title.

Development Insights: Starting from Mega Man V DX, Robledo's team has meticulously enhanced each Game Boy classic in the Mega Man World series. The final installment, Mega Man IV DX, took more effort due to its graphically rich cutscenes and stages that required extensive retouching to fit the modern look.

How to Play: To enjoy this visually stunning version of Mega Man IV, you'll need a ROM dump of the original cartridge. The patch can be applied using an online or offline ROM changer, making it possible to play on emulators or real hardware via flash cartridges.

Check out the original article for a link to the patch.

What do you think? Do these enhancements make Mega Man World 4 more appealing?

Mr. Baldimore’s 3D Schoolhouse, an educational game originally released on the ZX Spectrum, has been brought to life through the efforts of Late Night Tom on itch.io.

This game was previously thought to be lost, as it wasn’t officially released and was distributed primarily via unofficial means. Combining maths drills with a surreal and unsettling atmosphere, it’s described as part of a hybrid genre that doesn't make much sense in its current form—rather like a cross between Silent Hill and Donkey Kong Jr. Math.

Late Night Tom has restored the game to a playable state, even though only the demo version ends after you’ve collected your first book. For those who appreciate retro games with an eerie edge, this is a unique offering.

Is your game library crying out for a cross between Silent Hill and Donkey Kong Jr. Math?

Back in 1944, NBC Radio aired an adaption of Nathaniel Hawthorne's 1838 short story, Lady Eleanore's Mantle, titled "The Curse Of The Mantle" as part of its 'Weird Circle' horror series.

Now, this classic tale has found a new home on the Game Boy platform in the form of an innovative title that blends elements of a kinetic novel and walking simulator. Asatiir, the developer behind this project, describes it thusly:

THE CURSE OF THE MANTLE //

"When the governor's niece Lady Eleanore receives a cursed mantle, she begins to change and her life falls apart pulling the entire town with her."

Three classic Call of Duty titles—Call of Duty + United Offensive, Call of Duty 2, and Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare—have recently appeared on the Microsoft Store for PC. These listings have fueled speculation that these titles could soon join Xbox Game Pass, following a similar pattern with other Activision Blizzard games such as Spyro Reignited Trilogy and Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy.

These classic titles align with Microsoft’s ongoing integration of Activision Blizzard games into their ecosystem after the company’s acquisition in October 2023. While no official announcements have been made, fans are anticipating that more legacy Call of Duty titles will be added to Game Pass soon.

A modder has successfully turned a broken PlayStation 4 controller into a retro gaming console using a Raspberry Pi Zero 2W. The project, spearheaded by ConsciousFish6170, involves placing a Raspberry Pi 2 inside a partially hollowed-out PS4 controller.

The setup uses RetroPie as the emulator, supporting numerous classic systems such as NES, SNES, PS1, GBA, and N64. However, it's noted that performance with N64 games is currently suboptimal.

Check out the original article for a link to ConsciousFish’s Reddit page with details of the project.
