That's going to be interesting.

Here in Germany, we are forced to use Windows in schools because "it's what the kids need in the real world".

By forcing Windows to work cloud-only, they are literally making it illegal to use in schools here, because we can't force children to use anything doing data-harvesting in order to pursue their education.

Fun times ahead!

I guess this is why Facebook spends millions of dollars on content moderation

Meanwhile reddit is shitting all over the people who were donating these millions of dollars worth of content moderation to them.

Anybody who invests in the reddit IPO must be an absolute idiot.

Seriously. There are tech companies out there which are 100% scams and they are better run than reddit. They do not understand how their own product works. DO NOT BUY!!!!

That's... actually worse than a lot of what we've been protesting this week.

So Reddit is putting a disadvantage/brake on criticism regarding the scam of the century?

They are leaning on the scales in order to make the future a shittier place!

Very disappointing. Even from a status quo, where you're already disappointed.

There is a torrent out there because some company did that up to March 2023. I forgot the name, but it should be findable.

But be warned, the whole thing is 2TB.

First up, thanks for your hard work!

Nevertheless, we are still running on a budget VPS.

As things are currently developing, it is almost a certainty that all reddit alternatives on the fediverse will get absolutely hammered on the 12th.

I know you are working on an infrastructure update. I just sent you a few bucks via buymeacoffee to support that. However, it could well be possible that the new infrastructure will also become overwhelmed during the days following the 12th, requiring another update in short notice.

At some point, things might become really expensive.

What I'm trying to say is: Don't be hesitant to ask for donations. I think many of the users here right now are acutely aware of how important the next few days are going to be for the post-reddit fediverse ecosystem. Growth needs servers, servers need money and I'm sure many users would be willing to to chip in.
