Would love Earthworm Jim or MDK reboots but I think those are under Infogrames / Interplay not Activision?

With the abundance of retro platformers I still think this is a niche worth revisiting

Was just thinking about this game the other day. It was super fun and had a more interesting / entertaining vibe than other vehicle combat games (Twisted Metal, not sure what else)

I was all over that and Carmageddon, which also doesn’t have a very good modern equivalent.

Wild. If I had to say which game is harder between Battletoads and Elden Ring, I’d say Battletoads hands down. I’ve gotten pretty far, but never beat it on NES. I guess I could go the emulator route just so I don’t get that awful feeling every time I see the cartridge, some amount of closure.

Goin on like 30-something years with Battletoads now

This is one of those things where every time I start thinking about it I just... stop thinking about it and remember to keep an eye on what my son is up to on the internet.

I think this is a side effect of a lot of us browsing “all” right now combined with the fact that most people are actively transitioning.

I’ve set up magazines for my interests and subscribed to the ones that already exist, but interaction is low or nonexistent except for on Beehaw where there are only a limited number of broad-topic communities and people will see and read what you post. Right now, you’re pages deep minutes after you post. Until people more effectively curate their feeds and spend time trying to interact with subject based content like they did on Reddit I think a lot of us will just be typing into the void waiting for friends (or enemies) to appear

Right, you’re kind of arguing my point here. NSFW is not sufficient for most people’s casual browsing experience and there should be additional designations, or just one, one for “porn,” which would solve 99% of unwanted material on most people’s feeds

A boob, a butt, or even some violence like one might see on the news anyway, I’m not freaked out about all that and I don’t feel the need to hide it from those around me usually… that’s all fine fine, but I don’t want porn on my feed like at all.

Editing for clarity here:

Those are all things that might get flagged NSFW that I don’t mind seeing in general. I’m not uptight about it, it’s just a little different to be inundated with hardcore pornography like… while on the train.

I joined a primarily social insurance, kbin.social. I am very open to what is in my feed, sometimes to the extremer ends of that. I just believe that porn is a separate thing entirely and should be separated in some way. I’m not opposed to porn, but there’s a reason it had its own room in the video store. And if you’re wanting to look at porn, there’s a good chance you’re ONLY looking for porn at that moment.
