First, I’m not pro anything. I didn’t say anyone should do something. I said there are other parties who could do something.

Second, displacement isn’t genocide by any definition I’ve heard. And again, to be extra explicit, I’m not saying they should be displaced, or that it would be right to displace anyone.

But you can’t call it an open air prison and then call me a genocide supporter when I point out there’s another door to the “prison”?

We don’t rule in the US, we govern with the consent of the people.

But yes, FDR was the tits. And a native New Yorker. But he also was extraordinarily popular which is what allowed him to do what he did. He was also a wealthy elite with connections - his cousin was a president too.

If there were any advantages to doing so, why not? The issue is there are no advantages and myriad disadvantages to aligning with Russia, if you believe you’re a democratic state.

Why would any democratic state want to align with a totalitarian state unless it was the only option?

Their stated goals are to rescue hostages and regime change by eliminating Hamas. If the goal is to kill maximum civilians they’re doing a really poor job.

If you just want the land, you just need to move people forcibly or buy it (it’s not like they’re particularly wealthy) and a plan to keep it. If your goal is genocide which so many people suggest, you kinda have to kill them no?

This is part of my problem with all the reactionary takes here - they aren’t consistent with what we’re actually seeing behavior wise.

Egypt could open their gates if they wanted to.

Sure - but I’m saying they can do it without nukes. They could have easily ratcheted up to 30,000 or 50,000 with conventional weapons - they could actually carpet bomb the strip.

My point is if they were trying to maximize death they could have kill many more people indiscriminately.

Assymetrical warfare in a densely populated area always is going to have a lot of civilian casualties.

“Wait, actions have consequences?” - Russia, probably.

I don’t know that it’s too leftist for me - just a lot of the personalities are too much for me - i can’t listen to anymore Bernie-would’ve-won and Hillary’s-a-war-criminal 8 years later.

I also think Hillary would’ve been a great president for real, so no one likes me either.

That’s actually a really great point that was hitting on something I felt but didn’t understand about my interactions and I think it really sums it up. It feels like every community is a general community here - explaining how technology works on reddit to someone on a general purpose sub was expected, but here you get people posting clickbaity anti-capitalist anti-tech shit in tech communities that are factually wrong and getting absurd upvotes and agreement from people who agree with the politics and that’s all.
