A game can be challenging without involving character death. And the funny thing is, I'm not sure being able to die is what makes it challenging. I think it all comes down to : how much did character actions and player decisions mattered into the character surviving or dying ?

I do love the possibility of dying myself because I know that if I don't act right or do something stupid, I won't be saved and will suffer the consequences of it. But this implies that it's my choice that kills me. If my choice doesn't kill me, then it sucks. If it's the choice of another character, then it's akind to pvp and fuck that. And if it's the choice of a NPC or a God, might as well tell me that I shouldn't have come to play.

Note, I said CHOICE, not actions. A NPc can choose to try and kill me, if I also have choices to get me out of there.

Fuck no. Last time I bought anything diablo related was 3, and Ive been pirating Blizzard ever since. Fuck em

Are we talking about the shit of diablo 3 and 4 or the actual decent lore and ballsy gameplay of 1 and 2 ?

The interesting thing is that this was posted 14 hours now and the user haven't posted any comments but Ukraine and Russia war ones 2 days ago.

I ask for die rolls in roleplaying either for the lols on flavoring moments that don't impact the narrative deeply, or when something could and couldn't work.

For example, my players tried to convince dragons to make business with their own tribe. I had made them roll for Persuasion. Not only have they succeeded, the result was incredible. So from that moment and on and on, one of the dragon is deeply in need of shrooms and their tribe actually produce a lot of shrooms. Since then, that dragon was pressuring it's brothers and sisters to do trading with the tribe for delicious shrooms. Even to the point of sabotaging communications in an attempt to get more of them.

Plus, lets say that a player isnt comfortable into going full roleplaying. Saying what he wants to do with or without a die is a decent way to keep them included into the dialog.

How the fuck are my players doing all of this roleplaying then ??? Sorcery I tell you !

Very good job. Got the necessary items and a bit of flair. A few things I'd suggest to think about. 1- What's on the other side of that tunnel's start ? 2- How high is the ceiling ?

For context, they managed to successfully accomplish an impossible task (defeating a Lich with it's minions) to save their tribe's armoury and magical item stash. So their master, an Ancient Red Dragon, will give them an item from his own collection

Based on recent posts, I believe that what the players WANT to do should always be number one on so small details. Since you know, they are the ones doing it
