@n3cr0 @Max_P sysrq and ctrl-alt-backspace shouldn't be configured on modern systems.

If the machine is still responsive, ctrl+alt+f2 , login and restart the display manager should work

@Woozythebear @haui_lemmy If you are happy with your windows gaming box and already on windows 11 or with modern hardware which is not going to get their performance crippled with win11 and you are not annoyed by the telemetry and the commercials inside your desktop nor by the fact that Microsoft is really pushing for using their online accounts in your local machine, then you don't need to switch anywhere.

@flashgnash @samc As a linux steam player i answered this survey 2 times on the last ~15-20 years.

And i did it then, because i wanted to feed steam's efforts on linux as gaming platform.

@helenslunch @umbrella A lot of Windows games need vc runtime or other libraries installed on the system.

Steam users got this managed from the installer (also in linux) but if you install it manually from the game installer chances are that the installer may not manage their dependences.

On linux world you can get a lot of oresets using lutris btw
