This is the way

Then we agree, nice. I don't know the costs of those repairs so I'll take your word for it.

Not economically viable to build new, yes. But to run existing ones until they need major renovations?

Like they already built the damn things. It would be wasteful to just shut them down, especially if replaced with coal and gas.

Or could you provide me with some sources on why running existing nuclear plants is too expensive?

I'm so glad Swedish schools have mostly ditched memorization (maybe too much sometimes though)

Well the point is that people who had a bad reaction to mosquito bites tend to avoid getting them. Therefore they tend to live longer because they also happen to avoid the diseases, live longer and have more babies. They don't need to understand anything.

The point is that the itching evolved because it could be beneficial for us. The bites are not unpleasant in themselves as you say. They are unpleasant because we evolved to feel them unpleasant. It is the same as sex being pleasant. It is that way because it is beneficial.

Correlation is not causation. There is currently no definitive proof of anything. It sure as hell is not good for us. But I'll take the plastic over the lead poisoning every day.

I'm just saying one is acutely more dangerous.

Edit: while I have not watched the entire video, she even says the studies are incredibly small. You can not say shit if you test less than 20 people. These small studies' results may point to a larger study being interesting to do, but nothing else.

That is indeed what I meant to say. Though if we want to talk about worse things we can just at both farming and climate change. THOSE are really really bad

[-] kireotick@lemmy.world 2 points 4 weeks ago

I meant when it is in our bodies. One is WAY worse then.

[-] kireotick@lemmy.world 0 points 4 weeks ago

I meant microplastics in our bodies. Not the environment. Though you could argue that farming as a whole is the worst thing we are doing

[-] kireotick@lemmy.world -5 points 4 weeks ago

Well you know. One is WAY worse. Like we still have not found that much proof of plastic being very bad
