This has been working for me, so here it is:

  1. When you’re ready to fall asleep, pick a five to seven letter word (it can be longer if you can keep track of the letters). (e.g. - “Candle”)

  2. For each letter, pick an animal. (e.g. - “C is for Cat”)

  3. To the best of your ability, try and picture that animal in as much detail as you think is appropriate. (e.g. - “It’s seated but not laying down. It has cinnamon-colored fur, short. Its nose is pink, etc.”

  4. Move on to the next letter and do steps 2 & 3 for each letter.

  5. If you finish a word, pick another word, and repeat the same process.

Apparently this mimics the random-ish thought pattern that precedes sleep, and supposedly signals to your brain that the environment is safe enough to sleep.

I forget where I picked this up. This was just one of those things where you go, “Oh - that sounds interesting. I’ll guess I’ll give it a shot if I happen to remember it when I’m trying to fall asleep.” It wasn’t something that I ever really expected to work for me.

But we can say shit on the internet, and the world is pretty terrible.

Is this a joke riffing on the fact that May 9th is Go(5) Ku(9) day?

Hitori Gotoh (Bocchi) from Bocchi the Rock.

I’m not a girl, but the intense social anxiety is the same. I think I’m more that future version of her that she envisioned - the one that was drinking beer and reminiscing about the friends that she used to have. I used to play guitar though I invested more of my time into art rather than music.

“Cel” stands for celluloid, which was used and painted on for classic animation (which popularized the simple flat color painting style that you see imitated in modern cel-shading).

Rest in peace. One of the biggest influences of my childhood. Sad to hear he’s gone, but what a life he’d had. <3

She should really be using a dry kitchen towel to grip that wok, if she were serious about achieving proper wok hei.

Yeah - I'm currently playing solo so I can progress at my own pace.

I bought it about 6 hours ago and am only taking a break cuz I was hungry and needed to use the restroom. Then I’ll probably play some more until I get too sleepy.

I’m having a blast with the game. It feels like a mix between Pokémon and Valheim.

No real bugs encountered so far. The only bug I’ve experienced since I’ve started playing is that respawning at my base places me inside some vertical terrain, and that’s partially my fault for needing to place objects so close to the walls that they’re practically clipping.
