Haha, sadly not.

I'm currently there on vacation, and as the ban happened, I couldn't access the app anymore, without using my VPN.

Now it seems as it works again, I'm able to use the App again and even the website is accessible again.

No, read that on r/steam from a vietnamese user, and it's my first-hand experience regarding Germany. Still, might be wrong. But people tend to jump on South-east Asian (SEA)-countries, smelling suppression, and malintent, when often it's common law, even in western countries, but newly enforced in SEA countries

In Germany. As far as I know the guy has a great time :-)

[-] harald_im_netz@feddit.de 33 points 4 months ago

btw thay's the same reason why Steam Germany has exactly ONE employee.

[-] harald_im_netz@feddit.de 32 points 4 months ago

Steam is not paying taxes in Vietnam, and they have no official employee in Vietnam, that serves as a contact person. The latter is required by law. E.g. Shops need to have a shield on their front, giving contact information, and communicate clearly who's behind this shop (private person or company).

I used it in the middle of (light) bavarian forest, and it worked quite well. It had some misdetections, but overall it worked to identify all birds I could hear. Don't know how well it works in the middle of a city, or in other parts of the world.

But if you remind me in about four weeks, I can give a review of how it worked out in southeast asia.

Hey folks,

do you know of a heir to the infamous bibliogram-project or another privacy-frontend for Instagram?

[-] harald_im_netz@feddit.de 4 points 5 months ago

Same, thanks original commenter!

Tried it with 3.7.0, but somehow the app stopped working, and I've continued using Ultrasonic, but will give Tempo another try, as soon as 3.8.0 is available on F-Droid. Liked the Tempo-UI more, than Ultrasonic’s.

Hey, thank you for the advice. I'm aware of the function of an encoder, and use ffmpeg to re-encode the files from .flac to .mp3. But I was looking for a “more comfortable” way.

[-] harald_im_netz@feddit.de 2 points 6 months ago

Thanks for the advice, sometimes it is so freaking obvious :D

[-] harald_im_netz@feddit.de 2 points 6 months ago

Such a great tool, but I would love to just download in MP3 320, as FLAC is overkill for a music collection, and eats storage for breakfast :-( Is there something similar for MP3 320?

Backup solutions (feddit.de)
submitted 6 months ago* (last edited 6 months ago) by harald_im_netz@feddit.de to c/selfhosted@lemmy.world

Hands down, I'm way too late to the party with my backup-strategy, and I have no good explanation.

I have a NAS with OMV on it, and I'm in dire need to create an offsite-backup. I have an old Synology DS215j, which I'd be able to put into my parents home (hundreds of kilometers away).

I didn't find the energy to research the ways of doing what I want to do. As those are two different systems, the task seems enormous to me, without knowing what to do.

I imagined, that the Synology spins up once a day/once a week, and syncs the data and appdata (two different folder-structures on my NAS), with a certain number of snapshots.

Would you mind helping me a bit, giving me ideas how to set this up? Am I able to prepare this at home, before I bring this to my parents place?

Thank you a ton!

EDIT: Thank you all for your recommendations. I will take the time to read them thoroughly!

Are there any you know of?

The only thing that is FOSS and self-hostable I've found is Reactive Resume, which is terribly documented, and without AI support.

Do you have an idea? Whether AlternativeTo nor OpenSourceAlternativeTo got an answer.

EDIT: I should have had added, that I was not looking for the financial aspects of the app, but I was looking for a possibility to store tickets and cards: Catima offers at least somewhat, what I was looking for.

Almost 20 years ago, I've got a steam account already. Somehow, I've lost the account-name, but I still see it in the friend list of my brother.

I'm quite certain to still know the password, but I cannot remember the account-name. Any way of recovering it?

They've finally added it to the GC-emulation!

I fondly remember this from the childhood days, and recommend everyone to take a look. It's still quite fun.
