I show 0.18.4, you may want to shift+reload. :-)

You need a VPN or a reverse proxy or similar for this.

What you want is either a service that gives you an IP address unrelated to your physical location (a VPN), or a machine that is willing to accept connections for you and forward them transparently to your machine (a reverse proxy).

You can set up your own VPN to proxy connections by getting a host from ~any hosting service and running something like OpenVPN on it.

It is, but it was reset (again) relatively recently. You may need to contact membership@ to get access.

Keep in mind that this lemmy instance is currently "in beta", and sdf betas have in the past been reset for various reasons. The sdf mastodon services are very stable, as is its peertube, but since the lemmy server is very new I would treat it as potentially volatile for a bit longer.

Note that you enter the URL as !community@host.

I've seen chatter on Mastodon that kbin will view lemmy communities, but lemmy doesn't correctly view kbin magazines. I don't know if it's accurate or not. I have been able to join lemmy communities on other servers, however.
