It's benefit compared to current technology is that it isn't contained in a cable.

And what is it outside of the container?

If you already had docker, is there much more overhead?

Also if they're that small, the overhead would be minimal...but yes I get your point, but usually there is a cost to isolation.

Gotta reduce that OpEx to keep those margins high!

Using vanilla gnome and comparing about empty task bar is a bit strange.

Gnome, 2screens, 3 workspaces.

Heavy user of Dock number shortcuts, as well as keyboard swap workspace shortcuts and window resize/splits.

Discipline is good for workspace organisation, I know which "space" contains which groups of applications.

Which resources exactly?

[–] beeng@lemmy.fmhy.ml 12 points 1 year ago

Environment variables. If they're in my network, that has no open ports to the internet, I've got plenty more problems.

Even a dev machine, think about how many env vars a normal dev has, plenty to loose.

Secrets management tool for self hosting on my level would bring more complexity for little gain.

Bash scripts etc can be uploaded to open repo and not share secrets which is what I want.
