It's because you're still supporting them. That crap you see puts money in Zucker's pocket. Delete your account and it will stop.

When authoritarian governments have complete power they don't really checks and balances to the system, or juries. Take Putin - Navalny for example. You would know this if you aren't a Holocaust denier.

As for the USA, let me put it this way: If Trump gets elected, with the tech tools the govt has, we will see, at the very best, another Hong Kong, with anyone that disfavors the Repubs disappearing, some permanently. At the worst, we will see another Nazi Germany. He himself proposed executing people.

If you practice privacy and can teach others, your skills will be valuable to the underground resistance.

Wall Street Journal (paywalled) The digital payments company plans to build an ad sales business around the reams of data it generates from tracking the purchases as well as the broader spending behaviors of millions of consumers who use its services, which include the more socially-enabled Venmo app.

PayPal has hired Mark Grether, who formerly led Uber’s advertising business, to lead the effort as senior vice president and general manager of its newly-created PayPal Ads division.

When we were in New Zealand we learned that most of the wool goes to China for processing. So I bought a Merino undershirt from aliexpress. Definitely not as nice as Icebreaker, but the price keeps me warm!

I'm now on fixed income but I appreciate FOSS. I usually try to donate, especially if the project accepts bitcoin which I've had for a while so it costs me less. Too bad many projects don't. That includes Wikipedia and they keep asking why I stopped.

I'm retired on fixed income, but if I use an app, I try to send the developer some money. I usually only send if they have a bitcoin route. (Which is why I stopped supporting Wikipedia)

I'm not sure where to ask this so I started here: here: Is there a Lemmy client that has a filter. I want to hide posts from particular accounts. Like anyone for hexbear, for example. I know I can set up my own instance, but that's more work than I want right now. I was hoping someone knew a client that could do this.
