Why don't you tell us what problem you're trying to solve. I run a lot of things on my Mac and I've never had to mess with the firewall.
The "Fediverse" does need to work on making the concepts a little easier to digest for non-technical users.
I've got a pretty solid pciture of it in my head now but it took a few days of poking around and trying different things before it clicked.
In my previous comment I should have mentioned that I did recreate the pictrs folder. Your instruction to change set the ownership of the pictures folder to 991:991 did the trick.

OK. I just deleted the pictrs folder from srv/lemmy/leemyalone.org/volumes but I am still having the same issue.
There's only two local posts on my instance so i'm not worried about losing thoseabout.
Will the pictrs from subscribed communities in other instances be restored after a db reset?
Is there a way to reset the pictrs DB without affecting the posts, commenst and users DB?

Watch some of the interviews in his home office. Dude is a happy dad with a nice family. Meanwhile a lot of tech billionaires are miserable. I'd say the respect he's earned by not selling out is worth more than mainstream success. Linux and Linus are just the right size.
Love it. . IMO opinion self hosted instances are the coolest thing about federated social media and it's part of how we will take back the internet from the corporations that have captured it.
