I appreciate that perspective. They aren't bad habits, they are different habits... and they work better in certain scenarios too. Convert those mannerisms to superpowers I say.

Yeah I definitely think it could work if it's done the right way There are some much needed functionalities that Lemmy has yet to offer that will make it easier to stand up instances like this (easier customization, better cross-posting, better admin/mod tools, and clearer documentation). But the idea is great and it could work with some patience and hard work across various different players in the lemmy game.

Great idea! Will be checking it out soon. A few communities I am moderating on lemmy.world are:

Would be interested to see how crossover might work between instances.

Yeah I don't know if I could handle the crash and other side-effects. I already have so many other health things I am trying to manage and understand I feel like this would be another wrench thrown into the proverbial machine.

I did get a chance to meet with the therapist and she immediately was like "you have ADHD". All it took was mentioning my unending fidgeting and constant need to rush things and she already knew where it was going. I wonder if a therapist has the ability to administer any tests even if they aren't for the purpose of medication - more as a clinical confirmation of diagnosis I guess?

Thanks for your ADHD story btw!

If I could add you myself I would. I'll check back in a couple days to remind you. Every vote for seltzer counts.

A great place to:

  • A) talk about, rate, and enjoy different seltzer flavors and brands.
  • B) help people stop drinking bad drinks like alcohol, soda, coffee, etc.
  • C) encourage each other to get hydrated but with style.

Let's not take it too seriously - it's just water with bubbles in it at the end of the day.

Sometimes there's a car you see in the wild that you can't identify make, model, year, etc. Bring your photo to the car gurus and get it ID'ed.

I think from a business perspective a third-party app is still competition only in the sense that they are pulling away "numbers" from their own app, views, analytics, marketers. Even if they aren't direct competition it's something that they are competing against in a different sense. But your point is still correct - these apps are participating and aiding in a beneficial way even if it can't be quantified by their financial / marketing / product departments.

One of my more basic keyboards that I use for work. Can't go wrong with a custom ESC key.

True, the log/activity view is probably more feasible.

If they are so pro-capitalist then why are they not OK with competition then?

Is there a way to review any votes / downvotes you get across all Lemmy posts and comments? Additionally, it would be cool if users could opt-in to getting notifications for up/down votes on content.

Why YSK: With minimal friction to your purchasing process you can find hidden discounts (sometimes big ones!) for items online or through app purchases.

Especially for larger items you are purchasing online. After going through the entire process of purchasing an item and then stopping just before the "Complete/Place Order" button sometimes will trigger marketing to reach out with bigger discounts.

Same goes for some app subscriptions. If you plan on upgrading an app, while inside the app, sometimes dismissing the first price or offer will trigger a better discounted offer.

Nothing is better for and ADHD brain than tests and more tests. 😬

I'm hoping that I won't need meds at all and there's an approach where I can just use therapy to help me understand myself and how I can manage my bad habits.

What's frustrating is that I took some tests when I was younger but they were administered by someone in my family who actively was hoping I wouldn't have ADHD and therefore wouldn't need meds - so that confused me a bit... unless they were right and I'm potentially an anxious mess instead. But anxiety might be it's own meds 🤪. Still would like to avoid it.

So, relax, get the foundational bits out of the way, when the time comes be honest about how I feel. Simple enough. Thanks!

What should I say or not say to the therapist for the first time? Should I come out and say I think I have ADHD or should I avoid my own self-diagnosis and ask them to evaluate my habits on their own? Anything I should say or not say in a first chat? Anything that may be a red flag or green flag with a new therapist?
