Played it just an hour ago! It's good, im very happy with what I saw. I must have played the original game like 20 times back on the Wii, so i was watching this pretty closely, but no bad notes so far. I'm pretty satisfied with what I got to play!

Considering the game's other predictions, I wouldn't put it past them XD

Raiden gets the bad touch.

Hi all! I posted a few days ago when I finished MGS1 and im back! :)

MGS2 blew my mind, holy crap, that was a GOOOOOD game.

Same as before, short break, and onto MGS3!

spoilerThere's a setting in the Master Collection's options menu that let you mess with controller settings, and one of those settings is connect as P2

[-] Silvia@lemmy.world 2 points 4 months ago

I knew about them, i tried 1 and... well, it's a little too far back for me. I don't care for too many NES era games, apart from a few JRPGs

[-] Silvia@lemmy.world 4 points 4 months ago

Boldly diving into the series for the first time! I needed something different, and I figured "Fuck it, Metal Gear time. I've been wanting to try it for a long time. Snake was one of my mains in Smash." lol
Anyway, obviously i've heard PLENTY about the series, but thankfully in casual conversation, most people dont talk about story details, so im pretty blank on twists and turns.

Sadly no, too many damn lists, "top 10 details in gaming", and other such things like that to avoid the spoilers lol. But, i sat back and enjoyed the game as not only a "game" but a little piece of gaming history and DAMN, MGS is very ahead of it's time in style, meta references, and presentation. I couldn't stop a big dumb grin spreading on my face when

spoilerthe screen blacked out with a green "Hideo" in the corner in Mantis's fight.
(Mantis fight spoilers) I even loved the little deathtraps in the game, trap doors in the floor, bullshit little gun turrets hidden around corners... but my dumb ass likes Fatal Labyrinth on the Genesis, so do with that as you will XD

Just played metal gear solid. Damn, that actually surprised me. The story was good, gameplay was good, and this was all done on the PS1? I'm taking a small break before heading up to MGS2 and figured I'd share this screenshot for all my fellow gamers XD

I remembered a good brainfart of mine and wondered if anyone else had one to share.

Mine is this: I couldn't figure out how to parry attacks in MGR: Revengence all the way up to Monsoon. I just jumped around a lot and played ultra aggressively and it worked! ...Kind of! I just had to make sure I NEVER used heavy attacks. Blade Wolf was a nightmare but I was able to muscle through, but Monsoon? No way in hell.

I still blame the combat tutorial though. "To parry, push the control stick toward the enemy and press the light attack button!" I interpreted that as "just make sure you're facing the enemy and time the button press right." when they meant "Push the stick in the direction of the enemy and press attack AT THE SAME TIME."

I picked up Just Cause 2 after a long time of not playing it a little while ago and I had a bit of a realization....

I simultaneously get bored easily with and highly enjoy these games. Outposts and towns are incredibly repetitive, and those make up 90% of the game's runtime. It's not like that's all there is, and Just Cause 3 does have some other side diversions and new tools, but in the end, I'm just running, driving, and/or flying around a massive, largely empty, albeit pretty map.

It's incredibly mindless sometimes, and I never stick around too long, but there's also this call to it. It is mindless.

It's simple. I know where to go, what I'm gonna do. Im gonna see some pretty sights, big explosions, and I'm gonna zip around like a deranged Spider-Man. No deep planning or strategy, just spur-of-the-moment chaos. See a thing? Blow it up.

It's almost like candy. As long as I only come back and play it here and there, I will play it consistently.

Side note: On a certain level, exploring Just Cause's maps is pleasant in its own way. They are remarkably pretty and it kind of scratches an itch of just being able to GO. No real destination, no plan, just going.
