I can just see her tipping back and forth trying to balance on such an unstable roost.

 

She is the last of our original flock of Dominics. She loves to sit in my lap. If I sit down and call her she comes running. If I’m doing chores, she follows me around until I pick her up and hold her. I think that’s amazing.

More generally, the grownups don’t know better than you. They are just repeating what they’ve been told by someone else who also didn’t know any better. More to the point, adult life is like high school, only more so.
