Not to be confused with the Radeon HD 7000 series, an earlier series of GPUs developed by AMD.

You know things have gotten a bit out of hand with respect to AMD's GPU naming conventions.

It's a few months old now but there was also a bit of related news out of California recently. While the appeals court ruled that most of California Prop 22 was constitutional (overruling a lower court's decision that the entire thing was unconstitutional) they did throw out one bit of the law that made it all but impossible for the law to be amended. While the case will almost certainly be appealed once again to the State Supreme Court, the appeals court ruling does open up the possibility for legislation to be passed that'll allow CA gig workers to unionize.

Of course, if that actually did happen, I'm guessing that companies like Uber would either sue to get any unionization law overturned or spend another $200 million+ on another ballot initiative that undoes the law.

The PCIe 6 spec was finalized in early 2022 but - despite most every article saying to expect PCIe 6 hardware w/in 12-18 months of the finalization (which is right about now) I haven't seen anything out there for sale yet. Perhaps it's just going to be one of those PCIe generations that won't gain much traction.

Well, the Denver Nuggets finally won their first ever NBA championship while the NBA subreddit was closed. It'll be interesting to see what happens when the sub reopens since - from what I understand - the decision to close that sub was not very popular with the users.

FWIW There's another article I read that says the producers have only committed to having both on the show through 2024.

Ah yes, the Barracuda 7200.11 bugs. I wasn't impacted by those but maybe it would've been better if I did - it might've kept me from buying a couple of those infamously bad 3TB drives they released a few years later.

edit: also, FWIW, Toshiba is in the midst of spinning off a number of their divisions - including the one that's responsible for manufacturing HDDs so it might be the case that their old HDD division ends up being bought by Seagate or WD - much like what happened to HGST.

I suppose the protest may have played a role in the site going down but I thought the outage was mostly due to the cloudflare issues from earlier in the day.
