I feel like im the opposite from a lot of people in this thread. I very rarely get upset. Like, once a year maybe? Sure, some things annoy me, but they're rarely worth getting upset about. I think most people see me as a "funny guy" thats easy to be around.

Now I swear a lot, like very alot. And its mostly for comedic purpose or putting that tiny bit of emphasis on something, usually opposite from what i actually mean. Saying something like "a fuckton" usually means i had 2 apples instead of 1, where if i actually had way too many apples i would be more descriptive about it and not swear. People tend to take things more seriously that way.

I think casually swearing can help with not getting upset to begin with while also being more expressive if used correctly. I feel like i can get emphasis on what i say and having some form of relief from just swearing casually, which helps negate the build up of annoyances and eventually actually getting upset.

I very rarely swear in an insulting manner, i find it way more insulting and effective to use words that are very "unharmful" for that purpose, such as calling someone a clown or gnome. In the right setting those are devasting. I dont think it translates very well to english, but just imitating a 10yo and saying "your mom" is also just insanely funny as an insult because of how inherently stupid it is.

Very valid. I really enjoy it so far. No matter what browser im on i always spend a new minutes setting everything up. Might actullly harden this some extra. Probably wont get close to librewolf levels but i night be fine with that depending on much i manage to fix.

I found out they have a compact mode which completely hides the sidebar until you move your cursor to the edge. I didnt personally like it but maybe thats something for you?

This is indeed the appropriate reaction to being banned on counter strike. Joke aside you could just lock the entire functionality of adding an account to your family if someone got caught cheating though.

[-] Epzillon@lemmy.ml 2 points 1 week ago

This looks very bandy. Thanks allt for the link!

They do seem to be talking a lot about privacy for not having done anything. And i think they mentioned having disabled most of Firefox default telemetry and such. I will have to double check that when i get ho.e though.

I mean, someone should get banned from cheating. I can see why this happen though, since the account playing does not own the game the account which has the game linked gets banned instead. If the account cheating has the game they are instead playing on their copy and that gets banned instead (i assume).

However the ban should be linked to the account and not the copy of the game. I do not understand why this isnt the case. Maybe because someone could just make a new account and link that to play on instead, therefor never having to buy more than one copy of the game while cheating.

Hello!

I was curious about your guys opinions on Zen browser. Im currently using LibreWolf but enjoyed the look and feel of Zen browser. I tried to look for a Zen comparison on the aspect of privacy but didnt really fond any. So I wanted to see if you guys havet any input or opinion on Zen, anything goes!

In Sweden people generally dont drive around in dinosaur-sized car, but they have been increasing lately. Yesterday I had my first personal experience of how much of an issue they are. I was in line for a left-turn in a crossing and noticed that the last car from the opposite side was also gonna turn left. The 2 cars in front of me already crossed the road and head left, i drive forward just a moment later than the huge RAM from the other side and notice a Nissan Micra that is heading straight towards me instead of turning. It was completely hidden behind the monster car and neither me nor the drivers in front of me in my lane had noticed it. Cars of that size not only endanger pedestrians by not seeing them but also obscure general traffic scenarios. They should not be allowed on the street tbh..

This is very valid but in our case we dont really store any important data on the computer. We make digital timetable signs for bus stops and train stations, the computers we build and put inside are just a base image we flash onto the disk and set hostname and IP on. Then they all connect and set themselves up via our servers and pull any displayed data from our actual main servers.

In this case its sad that it didnt actually restart, that means our client has to drive out and deassemble the entire sign. But it seems to be a failing disk so it had to be replaced either way.

We did try that, it just have us Permission Denied

I would use the man pages but my working laptop uses Windows and since the system died i dont have any way to check them until I get home.

Thank you a lot for the answer though, that does explain a lot!

Today I just learned that systemctl --force --force reboot is a command. We had a computer we remotely connected to which got permission errors and bus errors when we tried to reboot it normally. For some reason the mentioned command did actually manage to shutdown the computer bit did not manage to reboot it correctly.

I wonder what the double --force flag actually accomplishes and what possibly could hinder a regular reboot in this scenario.

Hey, I've just received and built my first custom key board using the Wooting 60HE module and Lekker L45 Switches.

I tried testing them out in Trackmania and I've run into an issue. The analog inputs aren't registered in the game. I'm running the game via Steam through Proton GE 9.7 and it just simply does not register the input.

I read somewhere as the keyboard emulates controller input you had to set the input device in the in-game controller settings to "xinput controller" but since there is no actual controller connected the only available devices are "xinput keyboard" and "xinput mouse".

I'm curious if anyone has had or solved this issue or if anyone could bring some tips on how to possibly solve this.

SOLVED: Apparently there's specific gamepad settings inside of Wootility under Settings > Gamepad. There you have to select what type of controller the software will emulate. I just took the recommended (Xbox Controller) and now it works as expected.

Hello, I've run into a weird issue when trying to play some Warframe.

When running the game all of the performance stats seems to be reporting a solid 200+ FPS but the framerate feels choppy as if I were playing on 60 FPS. I'm playing on a 240hz monitor and I notice the framerate is not at all close to 100 even though both the game and mangohud is reporting 200+ FPS.

I've tried running GEProton 9.6, GEProton 9.7 and Proton Experimental through Steam but nothing seems to solve the issue. I'm also using VKD3D_FEATURE_LEVEL=12_0 to enable DX12 (DX11 has the same issue) aswell as gamemoderun for any possible improvements. Note that this all persists even without any flags. I have also tried disabling the Steam In-game Overlay but that didn't help either.

Does anyone have any information on what could possibly be going on here or anything that could help? I will post my specs below.

OS: Nobara Linux 40 DE: KDE PLasma 6.0.5 CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X RAM: 32GB (2x16) DDR4 3200Mhz GPU: AMD RX 6800 XT

Update: I found out that the issue seems to be related to KDE, when running in GNOME (Wayland) the displayed framerate matches what is reported via game and MangoHud.

Hello everyone!

I'm currently looking to self host some photos to get my girlfriend off of Google Photos. I'm wondering what has been good in your experience.

I never thought about self-hosting the before but a LTT video (I'm sorry) popped up in my feed and I got curious.

I looked into Ente.io and PhotoSync so far but unsure if there are any better options. Also saw that LibrePhotos exist but I haven't looked into it yet.

What are you using? Have you had any issues? Missing features etc.?

Hello, with the new AI features being added into Googles services I was thinking of maybe starting a thread about how to remove data from the affected services. I feel like simply deleting my photos from Google Photos most likely wouldn't be enough of a measure to ensure my images does not get affected or used in these AI features.

Is there any way to ensure that Google properly removes your data after deleting it?

Hello everyone!

I daily drive a Nobara install with my main drive being an LUKS encrypted M.2 drive. Every time I boot my computer I get presented with the password prompt to unlock the drive and afterwards get prompted with my login manager to login.

Is there any way to combine these steps into a single prompt? It is starting to get a bit annoying having two steps every time I boot.

Hello! I am currently attempting to install LineageOS on my OnePlus 9 to start degoogling it.

The installation guide specified that I specifically need to be on Android 13 to install it, however I am currently running OxygenOS 14 with Android 14. Previous versions have had Open Beta threads for new OxygenOS versions which provided local rollback packages but I can't seem to find this for 14 to 13 for the life of me.

Has anyone else had this issue? How did you solve it? Any help is appreciated!
