Alright fair enough. Though it seems this whole thing feels a bit fabricated. Alot of local people said they were booing not max but Gregg abbot who was presenting as a lot of people do not like him, however it's being spun as max being the target.

Don't drivers usually have some sort of body guards pretty often? I've seen lewis with guards before but it wasn't at mexico.

If only their UI wasn't so trash I'd only ever use weather.gov

ATM beeper Facebook bridge works fine. Use it daily. I'd prefer to self host beeper/matrix/bridges but haven't had time to set it up and got an invite to beeper a few weeks ago.

I just posted a similar response but I think the issue, at least for me, is how deep into the weeds I get with each subject. Anyone can be into coffee for example, but it's the ones who do the research and watch the videos about the subject in their free time, that make a simple thing such as coffee become more of an obscure thing. 🤷‍♂️

Seems like every hobby is too obscure for most to care at the level I do. Sim racing, rtlsdr, self hosting, ANY kind of motorsports, home automation, blogging, DND, video games... At the surface these are not too obscure but I find very few people in my day to day life that care about them in detailed way

I wish sync worked like connect did with hide read.

You can have show read checked but mark read and hide read in connect and it'll still hide on refresh and you can still view your own posts when you go to your profile. Since doesn't seem to work that way.

Of course! Sounds fun. I'll keep an eye out. Thanks!

Hey all I'd really like to use pixelfed but I'm having an issue where I assumed that the followed hashtags would show up with posts on my home feed with those tags. However it does not seem to be the case. Is there a way for this to work that way? Thanks!

edit: so it looks like the web has https://pixelfed.social/i/web/discover/my-hashtags but that only shows a rotating 3 followed hashtags. seems like a silly way to do that. it also does not appear to be accessible from the android app.

Hey all, but I've been enjoying browsing "local" in some of my instances and I'm looking to join a more specific example and was curious if there are any heavy motorsports related.

F1, imsa, wec, anything. I'm already subscribed to a bunch of those communities as well. I guess I'd have that as a discovery-type mechanic.

Bonus points, English-speaking Netherlands-ish instance

cheers.

Hey all, I almost have it setup and working.

Was able to login via element to my instance.

DNS/SRV setup It passed the federation test.

But I'm getting 401 unauthorized when I try and search for public rooms.

I kinda know where the issue is.

my set up is a little fucky due to my ISP blocking port 80. So I have an aws ec2 instance setup with a tunnel to my home-sever as well as a ngnix proxy manager setup to point to said home-server. Then I have the home-sever running matrix/synapse behind ngnix proxy manager.

Example.com/.well-known/matrix/server comes up with 404

Example.com/_matrix/static/ works

So I just have to narrow it down a little bit.

The main reason I wanted to setup matrix was I was super interested in the android sms bridge, but after looking through the setup process it seems like a lot too. Not sure if anyone has seen any easier guide than the main doc.

I have 80 and 443 forwarded on AWS, I believe I'd have to forward 8448 as well...? Still looking into that bit.

Also, any better communities I could reach out to?

Cheers.

edit: I decided to blow away this convoluted setup for a cloudflare tunnel setup. Wayyy easier from the looks of it
