If you're able to immediately identify an object, it won't automatically. You are able to select the unidentified item, and select Identify. Then it is fully identified, but you lose the shard's bonus for that item.

Let's see. Spend several minutes composing a few paragraphs, followed by revising because of errors in composition, spelling,or grammar...or simply spend a few seconds with AI. Work smarter not harder.
