As a long time Amazon employee, disagree and commit essentially works like this:

Employee: "I'm not convinced this is the best way to do something"

Manager: "Noted, now stfu and do what I say"

The national broadcaster of Britain. Otherwise it would be called the EBC, not the BBC.

Genuine question: what is the point of logarithmic scales? Why can't we have a linear scale of 3 to 30 instead of 3 to 4? A linear scale works perfectly fine in most cases (for example the Scoville scale which goes from something like 3 for a green pepper to 20 million for a reaper), so why can't pH do the same?

The context switch is what you make it. My switch is a daily ritual whereby I sit in a specific place and read for an hour with a little background music and a drink (if so inclined). That symbolically "closes the door" to the office, even though my flat isn't big enough for separate work/rest spaces.

Mussolini came to power a hundred years ago. That's one century. It takes a couple of years to learn English to a passable degree. How can Mussolini possibly be blamed for how badly Italians speak English today?
