Unlike in Capitalist countries, China's billionaires don't have much political power and actually face consequences for things like corruption, etc.

It's a waste of time to argue with fascists anyway.

It's the chicken and egg problem. People don't move to Mastodon because there are less users and there are less users because people don't move.

However if someone consumes less social media because there are "less people making noise", I consider that a good thing.

One reason could be that a network of well-connected right-wing influencers on TikTok share AfD content and help amplify it, according to Verwiebe. Another could be that the majority of AfD candidates, more than any other party, are themselves active on the platform.

I have another: It's in the financial interest of Tiktok to promote an extremist party with extreme neoliberal views in order to make more profit.

Germany's anti-immigration Alternative for Germany (AfD) is celebrating a "historic success", with a big victory for the far-right party in the eastern state of Thuringia.

The result gives the far right its first win in a state parliament election since World War Two, although it has little hope of forming a government in Thuringia because other parties are unlikely to work with it.

The AfD's top candidate in Thuringia, Björn Höcke, who is a highly controversial figure in Germany, hailed a "historic victory" and spoke of his great pride. He failed to win a direct mandate for the state parliament, but secured a seat because he was top of his party list.

The video is not new, but exurb1a summarises how privacy came to be and what privacy is for in a very entertaining way imo
