Why are us troops in Syria? Maybe we wouldn’t get attacked if we weren’t in half the countries of the world

I think the answer to your question might be subtly embedded in the second paragraph of the article.

"U.S. forces came under attack three times on Sunday evening, including near the Al Omar Oil field... the official told Reuters."

including near the Al Omar Oil field

This is the best summary I could come up with:

BAGHDAD, Nov 13 (Reuters) - U.S. and international forces in northeastern Syria were attacked with drones and rockets at least four times in the past 24 hours, though there were no casualties and only minor damage, a U.S. military official said on Monday.

U.S. forces came under attack three times on Sunday evening, including near the Al Omar Oil field and at a U.S. base at al-Shaddadi, the official told Reuters.

Multiple drones were fired at U.S. forces at the Rumalyn Landing Zone on Monday morning, the official said.

Statements, purportedly from militant groups, have said the assaults are in response to U.S. support for Israel in the war in Gaza.

So far, at least 56 U.S. personnel have suffered everything from minor wounds to traumatic brain injuries, though all have returned to duty, the Pentagon has said.

Security analysts say there is growing concern that the Israel-Hamas conflict could spread through the Middle East and turn U.S. troops at isolated bases into targets.

The original article contains 303 words, the summary contains 164 words. Saved 46%. I'm a bot and I'm open source!

If our troops weren't there this wouldn't be happening. We should send whatever politicians put them there to that base and see how they like it.
