I just went to all, and sort by new. Seems to be someone linking directly to subreddits with no reason.
There are a couple of bot instances that basically are just spamming reposts, was it maybe on one of those? Lots of us blocked the main offenders and then I think our instances defederated from them anyway, but maybe yours didn't?
Update: Yep according to lemmy.ca/instances you're still linked to lemmit.online which is the main culprit instance as far as I can tell. Blocking https://lemmy.ca/u/bot@lemmit.online will take care of it for you personally. If the case you're posting about was another instance / user then it may be the same sort of deal.
Awsome, thank you for the help. Just seems counterproductive to link reddit.
Couldn't agree with you more.
People are trying to seed new communities with content, but i think they overdo it by copying too much stuff over at once
In most communities, old content isn't helpful. It doesn't start any conversations, and people don't look at the old stuff.
Stuff like porn, pics, aww, or other subs where the conversation wasn't the point are an exception.
For me it was 2 bots that were the culprits. i blocked them both, and now there is barely a hit of reddit on my feed other then other lemmings comments about that dumpster fire of an app.
As bad as that bot is, it's made worse by just how random the stuff it pulls through is.
I am not too bothered, for a wile there was a drought of content, and engagement is needed to retain reddit refugees. Now there is a spaghetti and wall approach going on to try to get people to leave any sort of comment, and farm for likes obviously
I dont see that many on the communities i post, it depends on your instance probably.
