I'm honestly a bit conflicted about discovering this is a thing. My gut reaction is that highlander the series does not need a reboot. Leave it be.
But Henry Cavill? I could actually see that work. The immortal characters will need much more fleshed out back stories for today's standards, but damn, I can't believe I'm actually curious about a highlander reboot.
Edit - ugh. Just realized this was a reboot for the movie. Meh. Not enough time to develop and interesting world with intertwined immortal histories with complex alliances.
Yeah, over time, I've come to care a lot less for movies. For most things, I'd rather have a TV show so that there's more time to get invested in characters and do world building. Plus more bite sized viewing sessions.
Modern TV has such high production values that movies have lost their biggest competitive edge. Plus showrunners have more options for how to perform the show. No longer do shows need to be bloated with far too many episodes. Public opinion has also changed, so they don't even try to get away with bullshit like clip episodes anymore (mind you, those were mostly for sitcoms in the first place). Streaming has also made shows more accessible than ever.

If anything, movies have less backstory today than back then, not more. They jump right into the action, foregoing character and plot development.

If there was one actor that would get me psyched for a Highlander reboot, it's Cavill. I wonder if he can do a better Scottish accent than Lambert...

These reboots of movies that doesn't require reboots achieves only two things for me... it reminds me to go and watch the origial movie again, while guaranteeing that I won't bother watching the reboot.
Remake movies that had good ideas and poor execution, or visa versa. Don't bother remaking movies that are already good.

I just watched Highlander a few weeks ago and I think this one qualifies as good idea, poor execution. The one scottish person on the cast played a spaniard, and it's not just some scottish dude. Why didn't they make the main character a frenchman?! He doesnt even use a scottish sword!

Wash yer mouth out! It's definitely a case of terrible idea, great execution - in fact, it's such a terrible idea that there was literally nothing with which to build a sequel out of. Every other Highlander movie and the tv show was little more than an awkward retcon milking exercise and little more.

YESSSSS! I've been saying for years that it's time for a Highlander reboot. The original series is hard to watch now because TV writing, special effects, and stunt choreography is so much better now! A Highlander series would be amaaaaazing today! SO PUMPED!
Also, Henry Cavill is SUCH A GOOD CHOICE! He's a huge nerd that takes his roles very seriously and loves to keep the show lore accurate and deep!
If it doesn't have a weird stabby sex scene it's not a proper reboot.
Well, the original is pretty literally my namesake so they've got at least one viewer of they do a good remake.
Please don’t be space aliens again.
Love Cavill, love the campy first and third Highlanders (well, mostly #1), but the second movie is stupid.
