Ahh, not a Pratchett reader!

They have a chant; Nae king! Nae quin! Nae laird! Nae master! We willnae be fooled again!

They have a long history of rejecting rulership, living a free life by their own standards. While they aren't true anarchists, they come so close as not to matter to outside appearances. Indeed, they're referred to as the "wee free men". They're a pastiche of several UK stereotypes, but with an underlying culture of their own that makes each community self organized.

The title of the post is vert reminiscent of them, and not in a joking way. They're fictional, of course, but they saw the drawbacks of servitude and rejected it, making that very rejection central to who and what they are.
