I've just switched to Boost, it only supports blocking a user or community. I've been playing Hexbear whackamole for the last few days, and I think I've got most of them.

On boost, you can't block an instance, but you can mute it! Been using it to mute all of the non-english instances crowding my /all

There isn't a way currently that I know of, just block the users and communities or hope your instance defederates from them.

It's an upcoming feature in Lemmy generally, or you can find it in some third party apps like Connect.
