I'm guessing the modern ones are rechargeable? idk I just wanted the classic nostalgia bait of the old gen 2 tama with the watch battery and no backlit led screen.

Pretty sure older Gen Z had these too

I'm sure they stuck around in some form, at least in Japan, but I'm pretty sure the big Tamagotchi boom in the West was around 1997
