90s: only won one obscure Quake tournament by having the best internet thanks to his .com startup
10s: sucks at overwatch
20s: sucks at elden ring and pays someone to play his PoE2 account.

Someone needs to dig up what he sucked at during the 00s.

[–] Belly_Beanis@hexbear.net 25 points 3 weeks ago

what he sucked at during the 00s.

Probably WarCraft 3, where he couldn't make it past the three Orc tutorial levels before going on to try DotA, which he also sucked at and got banlisted for giving first blood.

Had an aimbot for Counter-Strike, calling it now.

100% guarantee it, probably also accused others of hacking when even his hacks did save his ass

[–] JoeByeThen@hexbear.net 55 points 3 weeks ago

This is probably the most effective psychological attack.

In able bodied people if someone can't improve at competitive games they are also completely useless at other things. The skill that makes you good at games is analytical ability, it's the skill that allows you to learn and get better at something. If you can't analyse a situation and recognise "I need to change x to get a better result" then you're going to be garbage at absolutely everything.

It's a really basic problem solving ability and he doesn't have it. He's shit at everything, I guarantee it.

i saw a bit on musk that mentioned that the first and only money he "made for himself" (lol) was building and then selling a website that was essentially the phone book but on the internet

so if you were very generous you could say that he was adequate at relatively basic web development circa the year 2000

[–] underisk@hexbear.net 8 points 3 weeks ago

Yeah, and even then the majority of the knowledge and experience from building a website back then would have almost no practical use today. I doubt he’s made any effort to keep himself up to date, either.

[–] da_gay_pussy_eatah@hexbear.net 16 points 3 weeks ago

Particularly if youʻre actually really desperate to like he clearly is

[–] argon@lemmy.today 10 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Some people play video games to relax, they don't try to get better at them.

[–] Awoo@hexbear.net 17 points 3 weeks ago

Sure and there's nothing wrong with that.

But there's casual for that, and this is about ranked modes.

[–] DragonBallZinn@hexbear.net 10 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

I barely passed Computer Science II and Discrete Structures and I am probably still a better software engineer than Elon Musk.

That bar is so low that Hermes Conrad couldn't limbo with it

[–] infuziSporg@hexbear.net 4 points 3 weeks ago

The Elon Musk Unmasked (from Tech Won't Save Us?) series emphasizes that his foremost skill is* building and perpetuating the awkward but believable geek persona around himself.

*Hard to say if he's got it anymore, or if American adulation of the ultrarich accounts for it all.

[–] hexaflexagonbear@hexbear.net 29 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

None of these words are in the bible… well except bronze

[–] mathemachristian@hexbear.net 2 points 3 weeks ago

yeah they edited davids victory shout to make him see more devout

[–] dragongloss@hexbear.net 25 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago) (1 children)

the turret alone should carry you to silver, how is this even possible?

[–] Dessa@hexbear.net 24 points 3 weeks ago

Shitty turret placement

[–] DragonBallZinn@hexbear.net 24 points 3 weeks ago

Elon Musk is probably the type to STILL not realize after all these years that Overwatch is a TEAM, OBJECTIVE-BASED GAME. Not a FFA Deathmatch.

I’m surprised Elon never quit after realizing Moira’s whole character is basically a summation of how people like him are what’s wrong with the world.

[–] SovietyWoomy@hexbear.net 23 points 3 weeks ago

Team games are communist because the whole team shares the victory even if one player did all the work.

[–] ZeroHora@lemmy.ml 23 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

I can't even say if this is real or not

[–] Goblinmancer@hexbear.net 22 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

He clearly only used tobjorn because he is the "genius engineer" character lmao.

Same reason he uses a really bad int build in elden ring.

[–] DragonBallZinn@hexbear.net 11 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Surprised he didn’t pick up Moira.

Member of Talon: pretty fashy group lead by Doomfist.

Whole character is being a scientist who abandoned morals…Musk would love a “morals are for the weak” genius archtype.

[–] Goblinmancer@hexbear.net 17 points 3 weeks ago

She's a woman so woke

[–] SkingradGuard@hexbear.net 17 points 3 weeks ago (2 children)

I have no idea what any of this means but it seems funny

[–] FumpyAer@hexbear.net 14 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago)

I looked up an overwatch tier list. Torbjorn is a damage dealer class that sets up autonomous turrets and is ranked S Tier, so the implication here is being bronze rank on a "braindead" or overpowered character means he's bad at overwatch.

I have not played a moba or hero shooter in 15 years tho.

[–] fox@hexbear.net 10 points 3 weeks ago

During the time this took place, Torbjorn was among the strongest characters. His kit included an automatic turret which would basically carry you, the player, if you weren't a moron about placing it. Overwatch also has ranked and free play, where your performance in ranked matches would move you up and down the skill ladder. Bronze was the lowest tier.

I was a Junkrat/D.va player back in the day. Loved playing junkrat- not sure if I was good at it but god damn I had a blast.

[–] vovchik_ilich@hexbear.net 19 points 3 weeks ago

Loved playing junkrat

Absolutely disgusting

[–] Barabas@hexbear.net 14 points 3 weeks ago

I played Junkrat when it was free for a bit, but that is mostly because I like playing Demo.

[–] miz@hexbear.net 3 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago)

Loved playing junkrat

mods are you going to allow these kinds of horrible opinions around here? mods!

[–] SpiderFarmer@hexbear.net 14 points 3 weeks ago

I felt bad for being a high Bronze Lucio, but at least I was actually playing the game.

[–] Pastaguini@hexbear.net 13 points 3 weeks ago

It’s funny how this story about a man playing video games with his daughter would be kind of heartwarming if it wasn’t about the worst person currently on the planet.

[–] 30_to_50_Feral_PAWGs@hexbear.net 11 points 3 weeks ago

He bought that bronze from Ea-nāṣir

[–] tetris11@lemmy.ml 9 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

For anyone wondering, the game is called Underhear and a Torbjoern is a kind of named door use to access brass instruments.

[–] BodyBySisyphus@hexbear.net 9 points 3 weeks ago

Why would they make it out of bronze, then?

[–] HelluvaBottomCarter@hexbear.net 7 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

He plays attack Torb, begs for heals and to be boosted, gets mad at tanks for not standing in front of his turret the whole time. He only says gg when he wins.

[–] mathemachristian@hexbear.net 2 points 3 weeks ago

he is absolutely the type of guy to say "gg no re" after getting carried

[–] mamotromico@lemmy.ml 7 points 3 weeks ago

Unrelated to the topic but goddam I missed you guys on my feed. I was nearly making a hex ear acc.
