There’s like 1700 folk here and not a lot of action so let’s get some discussion going as it ain’t a race weekend.

I liked Renault so defaulted to Alpine when they changed. Now have a soft spot for Sauber and looking forward to their Audi partnership. Also love Bottas.

I am a Max fan and i think redbull does really well this year. My close second is Alonso for sure this season. He is doing gread specially as he is a bit older.

This year? I would love Fernando and Laughs at least to get a race win. Feel like that's the best we can hope for, honestly.

Norris is LONG overdue a better result. I think he has had one second place finish and the win is in the air for sure.

I rate Zhou, Tsunoda, Piastri is beginning to show something considering how shit the car is. Had high hopes for him going in to the season.

Can Albon take Williams up the field? I hope so - there's lots to root for after first this year. Not likely to go down as one of the sports best though

Always have been a Ferrari fanboy, then the Schumacher era came and I'm still chasing that high.

Poof, that's a lot of pain you've gone through all those years.

[–] Xenxs@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

I feel that. I could not be more excited after last season's start but here we are...

[–] SatouKazuma@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

Honestly, Tsunoda. I'd love to see him get a shot with RB, or any car that isn't a dead bird on wheels.

Alonso and Yuki.

Alonso for the fun-factor, Yuki for the potential.

Albono! I like his Jekyll Hyde personality.

I've always been mainly a fan of the sport as a whole. Jos Verstappen got me into it when he was driving at Benneton next to Michael, and I've always stuck around since.

I've always been a fan of drivers that do really nice things with the car. Alonso, Vettel, Raikkonen, Hamilton, and (obviously as a Dutchman, but otherwise it would have been the same) Max.

Team-wise, I've always had (and still do) a soft spot for Williams. Mostly sentimental, because up until shortly they were a family-run team. But other than that it's not really specific teams that I support.

Alpine. I like building my hopes up only for them to be crushed

Honestly I'm not really a big fan of any driver in particular. As a Dutchman I obviously support Max, and I think it's great to see a Dutchman perform this well in F1. Beyond that, I can cheer for most of the drivers. Some drivers I like and cheer for in particular next to Max are Alonso and Albon. But upsets like Ocon winning the Hungaroring also never fail to make me happy.

I'm supporting Alonso and Ferrari. I also think Max is excellent. I'm hoping for a 3 way battle between Max, Alonso and the Ferrari boys. Gets a bit boring when the same guy is always so far ahead no one can touch him.

Alonso, Bottas, Ricciardo (hope he do get a seat next year)

[–] Haldum96@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

Grew up a big fan of Alonso, and after his retirement switched to supporting Max. I've been enjoying this season tremendously, but can't wait to actually see the pair of them fighting for a race win.

I don’t know at the moment, used to be Lewis but now? Not so sure

I was a McLaren fan back in the early 2000s because the guy down the hall was a Schumacher die hard. Became hard to be a fan for a bit in the late aughts (2007) but they had two awesome drivers. Followed Hamilton after that. Want to like mclaren again, but it's been a little hard again.

All in all, though, I cheer for chaos. Sudden rain, good passes, late braking and everything that comes with it.

I've been a follower of McLaren since the James Hunt era, but agree it's been difficult to work up too much enthusiasm for them since Hamilton left. Since then they've just wasted the talents of a series of decent drivers with garbage cars. I hope they do get their act together because I think Norris and Piastri could be a very interesting combo in a decent car.

I have a soft spot for Ferrari, because that's the team my dad's supported. I like Leclerc - he seems like a genuinely nice guy and could be winning if not for poor strategy calls.

That being said, the only piece of F1 merch I have is for Haas. I was excited when they joined the sport, but it's been a hard few years!

I'm a Max fan on grounds of him being the closest thing we Belgians have to an F1 driver.

Other than that, I'm enjoying Fernando this season and I would love to see Yuki in a car that's not powered by a scooter engine.

Alonso fan here as I started watching F1 because of him. Nowadays he delivers in laughs and hopefully another race win.

[–] ramblechat@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

I'm so pleased to see him doing so well, with a bit of luck (Max DNF) he may get a win. I didn't expect to see the Aston Martin perform so well. I was hoping Seb Vettel would do better before he quit, so sad to see these greats so far down the grid.

[–] acosmichippo@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

whoever can make races interesting.

[–] ramblechat@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

Max then? /s

Being an Aussie, I’ve always just followed our drivers as they’ve bounced around teams. So Webber -> Ricciardo -> Piastri. I have a mixed wardrobe of merch now because of it ☺️
