Reminder that you don't get to see the pictures of these children on the news because governments and media are preventing it.

I figured it out, this is the bad place!

[–] conditional_soup@lemm.ee 7 points 17 hours ago (1 children)

Disambiguation: I mean the US, not hell.

this account is on fediverse! with all the discussion in some circles about banning twitter links, let’s also positively encourage linking to users not on corporate platforms: https://mastodon.online/@streetartutopia

Self aware wolves.

Humanity created the greatest educational tool in the history of mankind and we're more stupid than ever.

If there is a God, that asshole needs to send an asteroid.

[–] Nytarsha@lemmy.sdf.org 5 points 13 hours ago

send an asteroid

Ever see that movie Don't Look Up? I imagine it going the same way here.

[–] humorlessrepost@lemmy.world 2 points 15 hours ago

Some say a comet will fall from the sky

[–] PhilipTheBucket@ponder.cat 98 points 1 day ago (2 children)

And so then I say, “Well, that’s not completely the point. There is almost no big organization you interact with that doesn’t have at least some part of it devoted to some monstrous crime. Your phone is made with slave labor, the people who grow your chocolate have never eaten chocolate, your soda is made in factories where villages used to be before armed goons evicted the former residents and killed anyone who wouldn’t leave. If 0.01% of Google’s operation is helping genocide then they’re actually ahead of the curve, because the whole modern world is evil in specific parts of it.”

And then the guy with the sign starts screaming “Yes that is EXACTLY THE POINT!”

no ethical consumption under capitalism

[–] renzev@lemmy.world 18 points 22 hours ago (1 children)

Alternatively: The only ethical consumption under capitalism is eating the rich

[–] Aceticon@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 5 hours ago

Nah, there's inherent dangers in humans eating humans, such as prions.

Best cut the rich into little pieces, feed them to pigs and then eat the pigs.

Google isn't a local business caught within the system also don't push a poor lifestyle on everyone. We are on lemmy and no money goes to israel here.

[–] Mrkawfee@lemmy.world 68 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

That is heartbreaking.

Israel's genocide in Gaza has created the largest number of child amputees in history.

[–] Nualkris@lemm.ee 42 points 1 day ago (1 children)

They did remove 'Don't Be Evil' from their corporate code of conduct back in 2018.

[–] some_designer_dude@lemmy.world 13 points 22 hours ago (2 children)

Did they replace it with “be as evil as possible; we have a lot of evil-doing to make up for”

[–] Stovetop@lemmy.world 9 points 22 hours ago (1 children)

It's now "Do the right thing" (for the shareholders).

[–] WhatYouNeed@lemmy.world 2 points 5 hours ago

Sure it's not WTF?

[–] Duamerthrax@lemmy.world 3 points 17 hours ago

"Be as profitable as possible", but same difference.

[–] lightnsfw@reddthat.com 17 points 22 hours ago (1 children)

What technology does Google make that can be used for that?

[–] finder585@lemmy.world 30 points 21 hours ago (3 children)

TLDR; direct from the article:

Israel has been integrating AI into the military for several years, using the technology to process surveillance footage.

IDF claims

“If anything, these tools have minimized collateral damage and raised the accuracy of the human-led process.”

So, take it with a grain of salt.

[–] Keeponstalin@lemmy.world 9 points 13 hours ago* (last edited 13 hours ago)

Here's more info on the AI that Israel uses.

According to intelligence sources, Habsora generates, among other things, automatic recommendations for attacking private residences where people suspected of being Hamas or Islamic Jihad operatives live. Israel then carries out large-scale assassination operations through the heavy shelling of these residential homes.

For example, sources explained that the Lavender machine sometimes mistakenly flagged individuals who had communication patterns similar to known Hamas or PIJ operatives — including police and civil defense workers, militants’ relatives, residents who happened to have a name and nickname identical to that of an operative, and Gazans who used a device that once belonged to a Hamas operative

AI system known as “Where’s Daddy?” tracked Palestinians on the kill list and was purposely designed to help Israel target individuals when they were at home at night with their families. The targeting systems, combined with an “extremely permissive” bombing policy in the Israeli military, led to “entire Palestinian families being wiped out inside their houses,” says Yuval Abraham, an Israeli journalist who broke the story after speaking with members of the Israeli military who were “shocked by committing atrocities.”

Which in a way makes their killing of children even more intentional

[–] DrDeadCrash@programming.dev 12 points 18 hours ago (1 children)

Seriously, Gaza is practically leveled and they're bragging about accuracy!

[–] drivepiler@lemmy.world 5 points 17 hours ago

They very accurately targeted anything and everything in Gaza

[–] Duamerthrax@lemmy.world 6 points 17 hours ago

It's absolutely intentional. There is no collateral damage because it's all intentional damage.

[–] eran_morad@lemmy.world 13 points 1 day ago

Fucking brutal.

[–] 21Cabbage@lemmynsfw.com 6 points 23 hours ago

Well that's the darkest thing I'm going to see this morning.

[–] sumguyonline@lemmy.world 0 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

I liked him, but for what he endorsed in Palestine. Bidens garbage.
