IIRC they were being used without the minecraft look from the start - Crysis and Red Alert 3 used them, for example.
I remember all the vehicles in Red Alert 2 were vowels, what was vowels in Red Alert 3?

Volumetric pixels. When everything is made out of smol cube instead of textured polygons.

I dont care thaaaat much about gfx but if your game isnt about building stuff/minecraft etc I dont really like voxels.
