satire vs liberals and mods and my highschool bully

what even is humour

you know a big part of humour is about subverting expectations right and theres that aha moment when you get it

but today its tough

and its tough it really is because if you dont make it clear its satire then liberals think youre serious but if you spell it out then its not as funny

and we dont want to look stupid

people think im stupid all the time so what can i say or do in my posts so that when people get mad or call me names or call me stupid i can just say hey it was satire that way i dont look stupid thats pretty smart right

heres an example for you

for example i talked about how minion butts are overtly arousing right and how minion memes are government mind control but that i dont care because theyre so goddamned funny but apparently these are real things that people think so you cant tell if its satire

take the poll below please right now and let me know what you think okay

I'm guessing this is satire, but it's also just not funny.

If this were a serious question, I'd answer it with "/s". That's the way to do it on the internet

[–] ChadMcTruth@lemmy.world -4 points 2 days ago (1 children)

the title is a legitimate question and i think "/s" is a bad answer and this one isnt supposed to be very funny but ive got a schtick to keep up and it is a little funny in the context of my post history

Umm, you just insulted the intelligence of the person you replied to.

'/s' would not have. The whole idea of hating on using '/s' is stupid and useless.

Umm, you just insulted the intelligence of the person you replied to.

please elaborate

The whole idea of hating on using '/s' is stupid and useless

putting '/s' at the end of a 5 paragraph shitpost is stupid

[–] otp@sh.itjust.works 2 points 2 days ago (1 children)

A 5-paragraph shitpost is also stupid. Do most people even read them to the end?

[–] ChadMcTruth@lemmy.world -2 points 2 days ago (1 children)

oh man you think youre so smart dont you questioning the validity of a well crafted 5 paragraph shitpost let me tell you something buddy people are starving for real content not that watered down FAKE news crap theyre fed on a daily basis and if a 5 paragraph shitpost is what it takes to wake them up then so be it i mean can you believe it people are actually reading and engaging with my stuff and you're over here complaining about the length of it what a joke you must be one of those sheep who cant even be bothered to read a whole paragraph without getting distracted by your phone or something newsflash pal people are hungry for the truth and if thats what it takes to get it to them then ill write a 10 paragraph shitpost and ill make sure its so good youll be begging for more and this was generated with a custom llama and not edited except for this last part because youre not worth my time

Yeah, see? I didn't read that. And I'm not going to read anything you post/comment with this account.

humorless pedants will never be able to acknowledge satire, no matter what you do

It’s possibly to irony one’s self up one’s own asshole.

Well, you can't really do that when it's expressed in written form as long as it's not part of a grander "manifesto" of sorts. Or better put, as long as it's not grounded in a context.

This can only be solved by slapping as much nuance as you possibly can on everything you write, make it incontrovertible in its clarity.

But if you're not in the mood for an adjoining essay whenever you want to post a one-liner (seriously not being snarky about this, I completely understand the feeling of utter tedium when having to explain the same damned thing for the twelfth time), you can always monitor the reaction then provide clarification. Once you've done that, you really don't need to engage any further.

And the most important aspect is to never forget that this is the internet. Some people are in it just to stir up shit, and that's a game you win by not playing.
