Terraforming Mars for me. Still not tired of it, play the app version on my phone daily and bring it out whenever we have a game night.
Unfortunately that's almost never, as covid moved us from board games to online d&d.
So I'm not really complaining, we play games a lot more often online than in person.
And one of those friends had always, always wanted to play D&D when I asked him out of the blue to join the group for my first game.
Now we have four core players and all of them run games.
I don't know if this really fits for this community, but my friend group has been way into Mahjong recently. I decided to learn the basics on a whim and recently got a physical set of tiles even though I doubted anyone would really want to play. Well I decided to bring it to a newyears party to have just in case. We started about 1am, I passed out around 6am and when I woke up people were STILL (not went to bed and came back) playing at noon. They can be kinda picky about board games, but I guess it was close enough to something like poker for them to get hooked.
Yes, the tactile feel of MJ can be really fun. Makes it much more addictive than similar card games
I loved Settlers of Catan obsessively when it first came out. My gaming groups would play it at least once every gaming night (leaving me playing it three or four times a week).
But as the very bad flaws of the game became more obvious I've actually grown to really dislike the game and would only play it to be polite these days. (And I'm not polite very often...)
I really love "press your luck" style games; but, most of them tend to be simplistic and only really act as "filler" between bigger games. Then I received The Quacks of Quedlinburg as a gift. I'm pretty well smitten with the game currently. Thankfully, the rest of my group has also been enjoying it; so, I can usually get it out on the table most game nights. While I'm sure it will get rotated out eventually, it's currently a lot of fun.
There's 2 expansions to extend its lifespan in your rotation :D
Years ago, when I picked up Agricola we played it every night for months. It started me on my board game collection. Now, unfortunately, I sort of doubt that I've played half of the games I own and Agricola hasn't hit the table in a couple years... I do get Wingspan to the table quite a bit since it is a satisfying game for gamers and one that I can teach easily to non-gamers with a theme that has wide appeal. Everdale caught my fancy when my friends who live out of state bought it and we got a game in before I had to come home. I have since gotten it on steam so I haven't bothered to get the physical game.
